Teach for America By Jasmine Thomas & Gabriel Grady
The beginning Started in 1990 by Wendy Kopp Formed from her Thesis Paper from      Princeton She was only 21 and raised $2.5 million for Teach for America During 1990 500 men and women began teaching in six low income communities.
The Mission Our mission is to build the movement to eliminate educational inequity by enlisting our nation's most promising future leaders in the effort.

 2.50 Cumulative Grade Point Average
U.S Citizen or National / Permanent Resident Status
 Look for certain qualities:1. Leadership 	       2. Being able to adapt to the society your teaching in 	       3. Organizational Skills: how well do you meet deadlines 	       4. Working on a team to get a desired task accomplished.
Frowneys Placing teachers in schools for only two years does little to boost student achievement TFA teachers are no more qualified than traditional teachers “Only 2 percent of the education corps were education majors in their undergraduate career”  -Adam Weinstein
Smileys Students of TFA teachers scored higher on standardized math tests than students of traditional teachers TFA teachers were considered better qualified than traditional teachers by a majority of school principals “I’ve seen a rising generation of young people work and volunteer and turn out in record numbers…they have become a generation of activists possessed with that most American of ideas – that people who love their country can change it…they are why 35,000 young people applied for only 4,000 slots in Teach For America.” - President Obama
Tfa for today More than 5,000 members joined 12,000 alumni and had expanded to 26 regions across the country Example, Mississippi Delta, New York, Los Angeles, and North Carolina  The Teachers comes from 500 different Colleges
Benefits Discount on a variety of consumer goods and entertainment (i.e. Barnes & Nobles, Apple and more) Eligibility for a number of scholarships Graduate schools offer 2-year deferrals, scholarships, and application fee waivers
Jasmine’s reflection I had never heard of TFA before I think it’s great that TFA teachers have raised students’ scores Question the stability of the structure; it can be modified.
