2. Typography
There isn’t much text on this cover of BIG CHEESE magazine. The same font is
used for pretty much everything apart from “Green Day” and everything is in
capital letters (apart from the pull-out-quote). The big bold letters represent the
loudness of the magazine’s rock genre. A few exclamation marks are used so it’s
as if the magazine is talking to the audience.
Layout/Images
The main image of the band Green Day takes up the whole of the covers
background. Their clothes and the poses they are pulling represent punk/rock
genre. Above everything is the Masthead, party hidden behind the main image.
The shortlist of other bands is at the bottom half of the cover. The main cover
line “Green Day” is in the centre of the page and is in the root of the eye.
Colours
Red and yellow seems to be the main colours used for Big Cheese magazines. In
the main image behind Green Day is a yellowy-red glow which could represent
the fiery soul of the rock genre. Most of the text is either used in red, yellow or
both, and some in white so they stick out from the rest of the cover.
Mise-en-scene
Props used to represent the rock genre are solely the clothes that Green Day are
wearing since they are the only image the cover has. They are wearing black
leather jackets, chains, other dark clothes, etc. and have messy/spiked up black
hair and this makes them appear to be very rock-ish/punk-ish.
