virtual meetings using an online environment. Web-based collaboration
tools allow for easy access and easy transferability from one person to
another, as the tools can run on any computer with a Web browser and
Internet connectivity. Further, users don’t have to e-mail documents
back and forth or worry about having the latest version of the software
installed. On the other hand, using Web-based collaboration tools
requires a live Internet connection to work on shared documents, and
thus users may not be able to work when traveling or when having
Internet connectivity problems. Also, the applications are limited in
what they can do. Google Apps is a current example of a web
collaboration tool. It is designed to function similar to an offline office
