Introduction
This document presents a brief overview of the features and capabilities of the
CIMtrek product suite. For a full overview please visit www.cimtrek.com of email

CIMtrek ACL Cleaner
The CIMtrek ACL cleaner is part of the Notes Archiving tool set and is most often
used when companies want to retain the Notes application but need to prevent or
restrict access to them. This simple to use tool enables an administrator to either
remove the ACL settings from selected Notes NSF files or to set the ACLs to “No
Access”. Users need to be aware that there are a couple of basic restrictions to
consider.
 Anyone using the tool must have full administration rights to the Domino
server
 On completion of the process every NSF file will have a “-Default-“ACL and
one manager ACL (which could be the “-Default-“).
The first time you install and use the tool you will be presented with the
configuration menu. This screen enables you to select which NSF files that you do not
wish to be included in the process. You can of course revisit the configuration screen
at any time. After that it is just a question of checking the appropriate box and taking
the "Clean ACL" option.
CIMtrek ACL cleaner will generate an XML file for every NSF it encounters for the
first time so that a complete audit trail exists for the changes. You also get an Excel
spreadsheet showing the before and after status of each NSF file.

CIMtrek Discovery
Before beginning the task of migrating Notes based applications, it might be a good
idea to get a clear understanding of what it is we need to address. The CIMtrek DNA
process is designed with that in mind. The CIMtrek DNA process accesses your
Domino servers and provides you with a complete list of all the NSF files you have.
A good place to start is with the "Quick Discovery" option. This will provide you with
an overview snapshot of all of your NSF files on the selected server showing you the:
 Application Title
 File Name
 Size
 Template Used (if any)
Once that's done there is a further option to run a full DNA or look at individual NSF
files by simply double click the desired NSF. As a result you will have a detailed
breakdown of applications structure and content. All of which gets reported in an
Excel spreadsheet:
 Duplications
 No longer used
 Orphans
 Complex structures

CIMtrek Archiver
CIMtrek's archiving solution was developed to meet the need to systematically
extract data (attachments, RTF’s, images, etc) from any number of Notes Databases
and make them available to view without having an application to maintain (i.e.
neither a web interface), and at the same time mirroring the structure of the Notes
application & document database.
The tool enables the user to:
 Select the Notes NSF file to archive
 Followed by the main view used to form the folder structure
 Finally the view columns to use
This structure is then used to re-cast the applications views and columns as windows
desktop folders as shown in this simple Document Library example.
The end folder will contain an HTML or ASPX presentation of the original form and
any rich text fields and attachments. The output can be a desktop folder solution or
an Office365 SharePoint deployment.
There is also a pre-parser option to select all Notes NSF files that contain OLE
documents.
An additional archiving option entails CIMtrek removing any buttons on forms that
might result in updating data - in this scenario we remove all buttons, formula,
business logic etc. and the application becomes, effectively, a read only solution.

CIMtrek J2EE and .NET options
The CIMtrek tool to Migrate to a Java (J2EE) platform or IIS .NET is exactly the
same and makes no difference to the process you go through, however the generated
end applications are different as you would expect.
Regardless of desired platform, CIMTrek software delivers a true N-Tier application
that is Restful web service following MVC patterns as much as is practically possible.
Your Java or .NET application comprises the following logical components as the
base layer: -
 Data Access Layer: this includes data access logic and database connection
handling with a relational database;
 An object data model and is mapped to the relational database tables / fields;
 Business/Application Logic: responsible for handling all the Notes application
logic and data communication to the client via HTTP request / response
protocol.
 Authentication & Securities: this is used to handle user
authentication/securities.

The components have been written and designed in the manner that they can run on
a web server as well as an application server. Nothing is required for the back end.
The outcome of the J2EE process is a deployable .WAR file. For ASP.NET it is a
Microsoft project file. CIMtrek uniquely allows you to deploy and execute the
applications in the most appropriate environment and platform – from full on
premise to total cloud or a hybrid of the two options. There is no ongoing
requirement for any CIMtrek software that required support going forward.
CIMtrek Data Pump
One very powerful component of the CIMtrek suite is the Data Pump. The Data
Pump provides you with the ability, at the touch of a button, to extract data,
metadata and attachments from Notes databases (.NSF files). The Data Pump is an
integral part of the migration process but can be purchased as a stand-alone tool.
Four options are available:
1. Generate and populate an SQL database.
2. Generate a set of XML files for each Notes document to enable users to
populate new applications without losing data or context
3. Extraction of Notes attachments for storage in your preferred document
repository
4. The DocLib pump – exports all data, meta data and Attachments into a well
formed XML schema that can be used as a bridge between your Notes
document libraries and your new content/document management solutions.
