 A pitch is a short presentation of ideas
  for a film delivered to an agent or
  producer
 Your pitch will provide the basis for your
  Production task
 Your pitch will include:
    oLogline for your film
    o150 word over view of the film




What is a pitch?
•A logline is a one sentence summary
of a film
•Your pitch must begin with a logline
   A killer shark terrorises a beach community       Jaws

   A suburban mother brings home an unusual          Edward Scissorhands
    young man who has scissors instead of
    hands
                                                      Gladiator
   When a Roman general is betrayed and his
    family murdered by an insane and corrupt
    prince, he comes to Rome as a gladiator to
    seek revenge
                                                      Pirates of the Caribbean
   A 17th Century tale of adventure on the
    Caribbean Sea where the roguish yet
    charming Captain Jack Sparrow joins forces
    with a young blacksmith in a gallant attempt
    to rescue the Governor of England's
    daughter and reclaim his ship


Logline
   You need to make reference to:

    oThe narrative of your film
    oHow your narrative relates to genre
     conventions
        o Refer to at least one other film to illustrate conventions
    oYour main characters and who might play them
    oYour potential audience
    oHow your idea will be successful




150 word overview
   Characters
       Who is the main character? What is their goal?
   Conflict
       Who is the villain of your film?
   Distinction
       What makes your film different?
   Setting
       What is time period and setting?
   Action
       What drives the narrative forward?




A good logline should include....
 A woman has an affair and runs off with her new
       beau.

      A neglected wife and mother has a torrid affair
       with an ex-con and kidnaps her children as she
       flees across the country with her lover
