Is Aalborg, Denmark a fun place to be?
If you are going to study at university, I wouldn't worry at all. Usually a great effort is made to get
the new students to get to know each other and the city, and many of your new class mates will have
moved to Aalborg from other areas of Denmark and will be looking for friends as well. By the end of
my first "rus"-week at university in Odense, I already had several new friends and an active social
life, and now almost two decades later, I still keep in touch with many of them, even though I've
lived abroad for several years and none live close to me now.
Aalborg has Jomfru Ane Gade, which has an active nightlife - at least during weekends.
Danes in general can be a bit difficult to make friends with, but as long as you are willing to make
the first move (don't be shy! Go get them!), you should be okay.
Travelling...it depends on what you mean by relatively cheaply, but look up the prices of an interrail
card for the train and hostels in the various countries you want to visit, this should give you an idea
of costs.

And no...I don't think you made a bad decision. Hopefully you will have a great time and a great
experience. We had a few foreign students when I was studying at university and they fit in just fine.
