Question 3 of my evaluation

1. Ancillary text - Digipack
I made a Digipack cover that used a front and back panel, two inner panels, two disc
spaces, and two album spine. The two disc spaces will be used for the album of the
band, and the DVD disk for the promo video.

2. Ancillary text – Magazine Advert
I made a Magazine advertisement to accompany my Digipack and promo video. To
make my magazine advert I used conventions such as; The name of the band, the
name of the album, the release date, a website, and magazine ratings.

3. Promotional video
My music video has both a performance element and a narrative element. The narrative
revolves around a relationship forming, them being together, and then breaking up, but in
the end they stay together because they want each other. The narrative then uses the
main actor as the singer of the band. There is continuity between my products because of
the use of the same cinematography techniques, such as camera angles ad shots, and also
mise en scene techniques, such as costumes and locations.

How effective is the combination of your main product and
ancillary texts?

“The combination of the products is very
effective because it gives the consumer a clear
link between the products and all of the
products are eye catching and draw the
consumer in to the product. You can see there
Is a clear relation because of the use of
colours and font styles.”

“I think there is a clear relation between the
products because they all use the same mise-
en-scene, such as locations, characters, and
colours, and also because of the
cinematography used, such as close ups,
medium close ups, and establishing shots.”

“The use of the editing and the use of location
has made the combination of products very
effective because they all relate to each other
and this makes it easy to relate them. Also, the
layout of the products being very similar and the
fonts being the same, it makes it easy for the
consumer to find similarities between the
products.

“The products work very well and look very
professional. You can tell they all come as a
package because they all follow the same
colour scheme and text styles. They also use
the similar images and the same characters
throughout and they all use the same colours
and editing techniques.”
