Voip 02

 1. 1. By Joel Hayes
Voice over internet protocol
2. 2. What is VOIP?
VOIP: Voice over internet protocol is a technology that allows telephone calls to be made over computer networks.
A good example of VOIP is Skype and gaming consoles use VoIP to talk and communicate with one another.
3. 3. How does it work?
VoIP converts analog voice signals into digital data packets and supports real-time, two-way transmission of conversations using Internet Protocol (IP)
4. 4. WHO’S THE CONSUMER?
Anyone one can use VOIP who have the digital/software requirements and the applications to use VOIP.
Some of the applications that use VOIP are free and can be used by anyone. If you wanted to talk to someone through a computer to another computer this would be free and wouldn’t be changed for the call, but if you wanted to call a computer through a phone or vice versa you would be changed for the call.
5. 5. Voipprivate, corperrate and public use?
Voip is practical for private use as it is cheaper and more cost effective than paying to call on a phone, depending on the phone and the form of voip you are using (Application).
Corporates have made money off of voip because they have incorporated it into products such as Xbox live, Face time for apple macs and Skype when using it from your mobile phone.
Voip is great for public use because the software is simple and useful for contacting people around the world. It’s more cost effective to contact some friend via Skype then calling them on their phone.
