10. Participant Biography
Jacob grew up immersed in a musical environment. His father and uncles are members of an inspirational quartet, The Latimore Brothers. At a
young age, Jacob developed an intense dedication to music and determination to pursue a career in entertainment. By the time the singer/dancer
turned 9-years-old, the Milwaukee native formed a serious discipline for the art of dance, studying and emulating the choreography of The
Temptations and boy band group B2K. Moving forward with his parents’ full support Jacob teamed with local Milwaukee producers to produce his
first song “Best Friend,” which was featured on Radio Disney’s station that profiles young artist around the country.
In order to keep his music career on the fast track, Jacob relocated to Atlanta in 2007 to work closer with Vincent Searcy of Crown World
Entertainment (CWE). Upon immediate arrival in Atlanta, CWE set up a premiere showcase to introduce Jacob to the Atlanta music scene,
executives and tastemakers. The showcase not only attracted Grammy award winning producer Rodney Jerkins and R&B singer Lloyd, but
introduced him to producers Corna Boys and Rico Love, who produced his viral single “Superstar” that charted on Billboard R&B and Hip Hop Sales
Charts.
In 2010, Jacob caught the attention of RCA Records A&R, Wayne Williams. Members of the RCA staff were in awe of his charismatic personality,
impressive vocals and advanced level of performance. Jacob’s star power was undeniable and he was immediately signed to the label, bringing
along highly reputable industry managers Larry Rudolph and Jeremy Geffen. In 2011, Jacob released “Like ‘Em All” which featured Diggy Simmons
and catapulted him into the spotlight. His next release, “Nothing On Me,” featured an epic Jacob vs. Jacob dance battle in a widely viewed video
that garnered millions of online hits. Jacob then released the “Like ‘Em All” remix featuring Issa which peaked at #1 on BET’s 106 & Park. Jacob has
successfully toured on major market tours: Scream Tour: The Next Generation (NXG) alongside Mindless Behavior, Diggy, Hamilton Park and The
OMG Girlz, and also the #1 Girl Tour with Mindless Behavior.
June 2012, Jacob received his first BET nomination for the 2012 BET YoungStars Award in the company of Astro, Diggy, Keke Palmer and Willow
Smith. The same year, Jacob also released his hit single “You Come First” – which set fans into a frenzy all over the world. Jacob was nominated in
the same category for the in the same category during the 2013 BET Awards. Jacob’s talents continue to solidify him as a triple threat. After being
discovered by talent agent Joy Pervis (Dakota Fanning) in 2008, he booked several commercials and voiceovers. Jacob eventually signed with
Creative Artists Agency (CAA), and has since met with great opportunities in his acting career.
Jacob’s first coplead role came in early 2011 with feature film Vanishing on 7th Street starring Hayden Christensen and Thandie Newton – which
garnered Jacob impressive reviews from critics. His acting career transitioned to the big screen when he secured the leading role in Black Nativity
featuring Jennifer Hudson, Angela Bassett, Forest Whitaker, and Tyrese Gibson. Fox Searchlight Pictures released November 2013. Jacob also
made an appearance in Ride Along with Ice Cube and Kevin Hart (2014). Continuing to advance his resume and deliver high quality work, Jacob will
feature in the new action thriller The Maze Runners - which is scheduled for release September 2014
Between recording, and acting and still touring Jacob Latimore, is making all the right moves to cover all bases of the entertainment business and
position himself among the greats as he continues to evolve as an a performer, actor and entertainer.
11. Participant Biography
There are few executives in the music industry linked to icons that not only transcend decade, but genre and cultural boundaries.
What you will find is a short list of names responsible for the numerous artists we’ve heard write and perform our favorite songs. It is
this consistent scouting of extraordinary and timeless talent that characterizes great industry executives—a quality Askia Fountain is
widely known for possessing.
Timeless is a word Mississippi-born and Chicago-raised Fountain knows all too well. Now, the founder and CEO of Timeless Music
Management, he has discovered and developed the talents and careers of Grammy-nominated songwriters and producers as well as
some of the industry’s most sought after artists.
Before his ascent to CEO of his own company, Fountain held many coveted positions in the industry. At just 17 years old, and still in
high school, Fountain’s knack for talent discovery was noticed and he was named Director of A&R and Promotions for family
company Mercenary Entertainment. Mercenary is known for being the company behind one of the biggest commercial campaigns in
advertising history in “Always Coca Cola” for Coca-Cola, Inc.; the same campaign that launched the career of actor/singer Tyrese
Gibson. This served as Fountain’s training ground, where he worked rigorously on learning how to develop and break the company
roster as well as meet company deliverables.
In 2001, Kevin Evans, former president of RCA Records, and then head of Urban Music for A&M Records asked Fountain to be his
Director of A&R at his own imprint, Evans Entertainment. Here, Fountain scouted and developed talent, reviewed songs for new
artists, and served as liaison between executives and clients in the coordination and evaluation of projects. Soon after in 2003, Hip-
Hop mogul Russell Simmons offered Fountain a position in New York City at Russell Simmons Music Group (RSMG). Under the
guidance of Tony Austin, Fountain worked at RSMG on several projects including, the Waist Deep movie soundtrack; legendary
rapper, Rev Run of Run DMC; female R&B group, Black Buddafly; and newcomer, Short Dawg (currently signed to Young Money).
Returning to Atlanta in 2007, Fountain took on a position overseeing A&R and Publishing for Compound Entertainment, a production
company owned by Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter, Ne-Yo. During his time there, Compound Entertainment became
home to many successful writers and producers including Bei Maejor, Sam Hook, Corporal, Shanell of Young Money, and Clinton
Sparks. One of Fountain’s most notable accomplishments is being instrumental in discovering and signing producer Chuck Harmony,
who’s produced hits for Janet Jackson, Celine Dion, Ne-Yo, Chrisette Michelle, Keri Hilson and Fantasia to name a few.
In 2010, Fountain took a leap of faith and left Compound Entertainment at the height of success to start his own company, Timeless
Music Management, a full-service management firm dedicated to developing aspiring artists and garnering placements for
songwriters and producers. The roster includes Grammy Award-winning songwriter, Nate Walka (“Blame It”/ Jamie Foxx, “Say Ahh”/
Trey Songz), Grammy Award-winning producer Young Yonny (“Say Ahh”/ Trey Songz, “Currency”/ Trina featuring Lil Wayne & Rick
Ross), Redd Stylez (“Climax”/ Usher, “Sex Ain’t Better Than Love “Trey Songz) among others.
12. Participant Biography
In a brief amount of time, Timeless Entertainment has already cultivated the who’s who behind today’s best records, and is sure to be
a staple in the music business for a longtime coming. Fountain’s leadership and talent development have created a hit-making
machine that has earned him the respect of many of his peers. Moreover, Timeless Entertainment recently entered the film industry,
after it began managing a young director by the name of Theshay West and developing film and television opportunities. It’s a given
that soon, Timeless, as a company, will have a firm and timeless grip on all things entertainment.
