The Nifty index snapped its four-day winning streak and closed below 6,000 due to a lack of support from global markets. Gains in metals, healthcare and auto sectors were offset by losses in capital goods, realty and FMCG. The Nifty closed at 5,978.45, down 37.70 points. Goldman Sachs expects the Nifty to cross 7,000 by year-end due to inexpensive valuations and conservative investor positioning. Option data suggests the market sees the range between 5,800-6,200 in the near term.

The Nifty snapped its four-day winning
streak and closed below the psychological
6,000 mark in the absence of supportive
cues from global peers. Gains in metals,
healthcare and auto were offset by losses in
capital goods, realty and FMCG sectors.
The 50-share Nifty index ended at 5,978.45,
down 37.70 points or 0.63 per cent. It
touched a high of 6,042.15 and a low of
5,977.30 in trade today.
The Sensex closed at 19,658.01, down
126.07 points or 0.64 per cent. The index
touched a high of 19,856.43 and a low of
19,654.46 in trade today. The BSE Midcap
Index was up 0.12 per cent and the BSE
Smallcap Index gained 0.52 per cent.
ONE CAN GO LONG IN NIFTY IF NIFTY
TRADES ABOVE 6025 WITH THE STOP
OF 6001 AND 5980 TARGET 6150.
Outlook for the day
NIFTY has now moved into a bull phase though there
will be corrections on the way, but some of these could

The option data suggests that the market participants are currently
visualizing the 6200 mark on the higher side. Very high CALL writing at
6200 Strike price will stop market to move beyond 6200 mark. On the other
side we can see equal PUT writings on 5900 to 5800 strike price. This
indicates that NIFTY down move would be restricted below 5800 mark. Last
session’s option data indicated that NIFTY can have a range of 5900 and
6200 in near term.
