PROJECT MANAGER & MANAGER OF IT - Huskey Truss & Building Supply, Franklin, TN
(July 2004 through June 2008)
ERP Implementation. Conversion from Activant's CSD to Falcon. Replacement of the primary
business application CSD to the relational database ERP application Falcon. This is an integrated
application which includes:

Major Upgrade & Conversion of IT Hardware & Software. Converted from a one server, Unix
terminal ERP application to a multi-server environment with both Red Hat Linux and Microsoft based
Client-Server Application Servers. Project management included the coordination of infrastructure
projects such as server room upgrades (power & HVAC), network cabling installations, Server
upgrades, as well as on-site and remote Vendor services in support of seamless database migrations.
The primary systems which were added to the environment included:
• IBM eServer (SCO OS then converted to RedHat Linux)
• Windows 2003 Terminal Server for remote clients (3 stores)
• Windows 2000 SQL Server for Document Imaging Application.
• Windows 2000 SQL Server to support two small apps:
◦ PDS - a Business Analysis Dashboard
◦ DDS – Delivery Dispatch System, hand scanner based app for automating picks, truck
loading/delivery status and visually scheduling truck loads and date/time of delivery..
In addition to the Project Management responsibilities leading up to go-live, I participated in the
negotiations, and managed the scheduling, and execution of a variety of additional software
applications and infrastructure upgrades.
Construction of 100,000 Sq ft. Manufacturing Plant & 20,000 Sq ft. Store Facilities (2007-2008)
As Project Manager for all IT and Telecom requirements of the new facility, managed
the planning, execution, and successful objective completion of all telecom, data and voice
systems during the construction of facilities for the Huskey's third location. All IT objectives
were met at or below project budget and completed go-live prior to the scheduled facility opening
date.
• Participated in formal meetings with company managers and the General Contractor as well as
ad-hoc meetings with sub-contractors (HVAC, Electrical) in order to insure critical IT related
facility milestones were achieved.
• Worked with Vendors to identify specifications and develop designs for two Telecom/Server
rooms.
3. • Created RFQs and analyzed bids for ISP, telephone system, network, phone and security
cabling. Presented bids to C Level management for approval.
• Negotiated new Telecom/Data contract saving thousands of dollars. No upfront costs and no
increase in monthly service fees. Agreement included Vendor providing Cisco Routers for all 3
stores, integrating our voice, data and Internet services through their network and replacing our
existing (high-priced) leased T1 lines.
• Worked with vendors from AT&T, NuVox (WAN/ISP), ERP provider, and Phone System and
Alarm System companies to schedule interdependent services and testing. Managed
communications to update all parties as required by schedule changes due to slips of
construction milestones.
• Managed the procurement, installation, and testing of computers, switches, and printers and
integration testing of manufacturing equipment with the network.
SENIOR PROJECT MANAGER - Strategic Technologies Hartford, CT (October 1998 through
June 1999),
Oracle DataMart, BNP (National Bank of Paris), New York City. During a 9 month project
implementing companies first Oracle DataMart (using Oracle's then new Designer & Developer tools).
Coordinated the efforts of both staff from Connecticut and Virginia as well as the work of contract
DBA's. In addition, stayed on-site during critical development period to insure efficient
communication between developers and customers to meet Customer Expectations while preventing
scope creep. This including stepping in to assist with Product testing and quality issue tracking &
resolution prior to customer acceptance.
Sun Solaris Servers & Storage. Provided Project Management services to a variety of clients in
Manufacturing, Insurance, Healthcare and Publishing. Managed the installation of Sun UNIX Servers
and Sun Storage Arrays. Worked with clients to insure the proper specification & coordination of
facility services (HVAC, power, cabling) in support of on time equipment delivery, installation,
configuration and application migration. Worked with company engineers to set and meet customer
expectations and insure on time and budget completion.
Web Server Application Development and Systems Installations. Microsoft Web Development
projects on Microsoft or Sun UNIX platforms for medium and large size companies in Banking,
Manufacturing, Insurance and Healthcare industries. Responsibilities including formal meetings and
reporting with customer managers and our technical staff. This insured successful delivery of project
objectives and customer acceptance both on time and within budget.
