2. • From my dad’s family, I decided to
interview my Aunt
• I chose to interview my mom about
her family history.
• They both knew more about their
family history because all of my
grandparents use to tell them stories
when they were children.
3. MY GREAT-GRANDPA
MY GREAT GRANDFATHER WAS A CHEF IN
TEXAS. THERE IS A BOOK CALLED THE
LAST CAMPFIRE , IN WHICH HE IS
MENTIONED IN, AND HE IS ALSO ON A
FAMOUS TEXAS POSTCARD .
MY GRANDMA
MY GRANDMA PILAR WAS BORN AND RAISED
IN TEXAS. SHE MOVED TO CALIFORNIA WHEN
SHE WAS A TEEN. THE REASON WHY SHE
MOVED WAS BECAUSE OF THE PUSH FACTOR
IN TEXAS, WHICH WAS POVERTY. SHE KNEW
MOVING WITH HER BROTHERS WOULD GIVE
HER A BETTER LIFE.
4. GRANDPA
MY GRANDPA ALBINO LIVED IN MEXICO
UNTIL THE AGE OF TWELVE, THE
REASON WHY HE LEFT WAS BECAUSE OF
THE PULL FACTORS. HE KNEW HE
NEEDED MONEY TO SUPPORT HIMSELF
SO HE MOVED TO CALIFORNIA , AND
WORKED IN THE RANCHO GRAPE FIELDS.
MY GRAND-PARENTS
MY GRANDPARENTS MET IN RANCHO
CUCAMONGA. MY GRANDMA’S
BROTHERS WORKED IN THE GRAPE
FIELDS WITH MY GRANDFATHER.
YEARS LATER, THEY WERE MARRIED
AND HAD EIGHT CHILDREN.
5. GREAT GREAT-
GRANDFATHER
GREAT-GRANDFATHER
He was originally from
Mexico, but was drafted to
France because of the war.
While in France, he decided
to travel to other places; He
went to Sweden, and that
was where he met my great
great-grandmother.
Together they migrated back
to France after a year.
My great grandfather was
born in France.
After a couple of years, he
moved to Texas, to seek
employment.
While in Texas, he met my
great grandmother.
The two of them moved to
Fresno, California because
the jobs there paid more
money.
6. GREAT GRANDFATHER GRANDFATHER
He was originally from
Puerto Rico, and lived there
until he was a young adult.
My great grandpa migrated
to Texas because he figured
there would be a variety of
jobs.
He knew he needed to
support his family and
moving was the way to do
so.
My grandfather Felipe was
from Texas.
He moved to California to
work in the vineyards in
Fresno. He knew those jobs
weren’t easy but he needed
the money so he didn’t mind
putting in more work.
He then moved to Chino
because my grandma lived
there and he knew she didn’t
want to live anywhere else.
7. My
Grandma
My grandmother Aurora
had always lived in Chino ,
California.
I really do not have much
info from my grandma’s
history, but I do know she
is half Indian.
For work, my grandma
would go to Fresno and
pick grapes along with her
brothers, and cousins.
That was were my
grandparents met for the
first time.
8. My Parents
My parents have always lived in
California.
My dad grew up in Rancho
Cucamonga along with his siblings.
My mom lived in Chino with her
family, and her neighbor happened
to be my dad’s sister Mary
My parents met when they were
about thirteen years old.
Six years later they were married
and moved into a house that is a
street over from where they first
met.
I think the main reason why both
sides of my family are close is
because they all grew up next to
one another.
9. “GRANDMA’S TACOS” TAMALES
My grandma’s parents use to
make her tacos in Texas.
When she had her own
children, it became a
tradition for her as well.
The taco is a simple type of
food it has ground beef,
melted cheese, and lettuce.
My family and I use the term
“ Grandma’s Taco” because
she is the one who
introduced it to us.
Every Christmas my family
and I make tamales.
My grandma ( mom’s mother)
loved cooking , and being with
the family so she use to have
dinner at her house every
Christmas
She made the tamales with her
daughters on Christmas eve.
Till this day, we make Tamales
with our whole family because
my grandma would have
wanted it that way.
