1. Essay About My English Class
I can remember seeing that I had to take an English class my first semester of college. I was
already overwhelmed with starting college, and having to write college essays made me get even
more nervous. I sat down with my mom and decided to look at the English classes available, and I
finally decided that I had to take an evening class to make it work in my schedule. The first day of
English came and now looking back it was not as bad as I thought. It made me a better writer and be
where I am today. It may have taken me some time to get where I am today, but at least I am on
the right track. English Composition helped me realize that I am my own author and have strengths
that I did not realize I had. When I first started college I did not know what to expect with an
English class. I liked writing about topics that interested me, but high school did not allow me to do
that. I took American History and we would have to write...show more content...
I learned many techniques from my professor. He helped me realize that it is okay to have your
own opinion as long as you back it up. He showed me that I am an author when I did not think I
was. He also told us to read our essays out loud when we proofread, and I always did this
technique before submitting all my essays. I can remember having to write my first essay and I
was scared, because I felt like I had to get a good grade. I started thinking about what tools I could
use to help me, and I decided to go to The Learning Center to help with my essay. When I went
there they would make edits to my essay and then explain what I should change. The tutor noticed I
used multiple choppy sentences and commas in spots there should not be. Sometimes I would even
go twice to make sure I did not miss any minor mistakes. Going there helped me feel more confident
as a writer and I learned from my mistakes. I had many helpful techniques from multiple people that
shaped me into the writer I am

From my first days at The College of Wooster, I can tell that I will be aptly prepared to have a
successful future both during college and beyond. I'll immediately be challenged and engaged by
the First Year Seminar which will provide me with opportunities to make friends, engage in a topic
of interest, and further develop my writing skills. In addition, this seminar will prepare me for college
success. Writing has always been something of interest to me, so the writing intensive First Year
Seminar aligns with my personal passions. The College of Wooster also has a writing club that I
would be interested in joining. A writing club would give me weekly chances to meet with fellow
creative writers and allow me to become part of a writing

5. Reflective Essay On Climate Change
Climate change is an unpredictable change in weather among the countries and states that make
up parts of the world. Despite the tragedies of Hurricane Sandy, the ongoing California Wildfires,
and the three hurricanes that divested Texas, Florida, and Puerto Rico, I believe those powerful
climate events is the truly beginning of what the world is in store for. I feel like in a way not
only is mother nature sending signals, but so is God. The last natural disaster North, South, and
Central America are waiting for is the Tsunami that will wash away our humanity. However, one
object that will vanish our entire existence before God does is the bomb Koreans will soon erupt
on our soil. To fight for our lives and planet, as humans we should take better care of our
environment before it all comes crashing down like a domino effect.
Climate change has affected social classes by targeting low–income communities in pollution
industries around the areas just out of convenience. Communities of both colored and low–incomed
class are located near hazardous waste sites due to not being able to afford living in a much safer
environment. Since the government views poor people as despicable human beings, why not make
their lives any more suffering than it already is? In the future, I predict that the 4 "ism's"

"The jury has made their decision, the plaintiff has been found guilty." These are the words that

timing and patience to finish the job, which I'm sure I can handle. Being a lawyer can be a tough

I believe that life is a learning experience and being able to recognize our own strengths and
weaknesses can help us become better individuals in anything we choose to do, whether it is
positive abilities and skills that can help achieve our goals or negative personal areas that need
improvement. Knowing yourself and what you can do, can help you recognize and overcome your
weaknesses. One of my greatest strengths at work that I have recognized would have to be my
ability to be a well–organized individual. I tend to write what I have to do down on paper and

I am certain that because of my strengths, I am good at what I do however; I do have weaknesses
that I have to overcome and improve. My personal weakness at work is lack of leadership.
Currently I am in a position in which I do not possess the title of management. As a result, I
basically feel that I do not have to show leadership or take initiative to take on the responsibilities
of a manager when in reality, I am not. One of my weaknesses at home is time management. This
is a weakness that I have had to struggle with since my daughter was born. It is hard for me to try
to juggle being a full time single parent, working a full time job and attending school full time. I
always feel that there is never enough time to accomplish my tasks whether it is household
chores, work related or assignments for school. Most importantly I have to make sure that I am
readily available for my child at all times. In a Learning team, presentation skills are very
important. I would have to say that Presentation Skills would be one of my personal weaknesses
in the Learning team. It is difficult for me at times to stand up in front of a room full of people
and present a project or conduct some sort of meeting. In order to do so, you have to have
confidence that what you?re talking about is accurate and the motivation to actually get up do it.

8. Essay on malaria
It is one of the ten deadliest diseases of all time. It effects men, women, children, and animals. It is
in full force in Africa, India, Asia, China, South America, and the Caribbean. This disease is
malaria. Nearly 40 percent of the world's population lives in areas that are effected by the disease.
Malaria is a serious, infectious disease spread by certain mosquitoes. It is caused by infection with
the Plasmodium genus of the protozoan parasite. More than one hundred species of this parasite
exist. It is capable of infecting reptiles, birds, rodents, and primates. Four species infect human
beings, the most common being P.vivax and P. falciparum.
...show more content...
The period between the two is usually 8 and 12 days for falciparum malaria, and up to a month for
other types. Symptoms from some strains of P.Vivax may not be seen for up to 8–10 months.
The primary symptom of all types of malaria is the "malaria ague" (chills and fever). In most
cases the fever has three stages. Uncontrollable shivering for an hour or two, followed by a rapid
rise in temperature as high as (106 degrees) which lasts for three hours. Then just as suddenly the
patient begins to sweat profusely. Other symptoms may include fatigue, severe headache, or
nausea and vomiting. As the sweat goes away the patient feels weak and falls asleep. In many
cases this cycle of chills, fever, and sweating occurs every other day, or they may last for between
a week and a month. Those with the chronic form of malaria may have a relapse as long as 50 years
after the initial infection.
Falciparum malaria is far more severe than other types of malaria because the parasite attacks all
red blood cells, not just the young or old cells, as do other types. It causes the red blood cells to
become very "sticky". A patient with this type can die within hours of the first symptoms. The fever
is prolonged. So many red blood cells are destroyed that they block the blood vessels in vital organs
(especially the kidneys) and the spleen can become enlarged. There may be brain damage,

9. My Life Reflection
Introduction Life is hard. Life throws curveballs and throws a wrench in your plans from time to
time. Sometimes this life on Earth can be more than we ever could imagine. And sometimes it gets
the best of us. But what do we really know about our life and our purpose on Earth? How soon do
we know about God, our Creator? Who is really in control of our lives? Man vs. a higher power?
We are born, and idealistically raised by a family, or a family unit of some kind, in a world of
uncertainties and beauty.
"Yes there is a world out there even if you decide you don't want meet, it is still going to hit you
right in the face." (Ryan Hyde & Dixon, 2000) This world in its vastness is full of many walks of
life and every single person is uniquely made. I grew up being told that I was an answered prayer by
God. I did not know truly what that meant, but I always knew I was a unique gift from God, which
was a complex concept for a child to wrap their brain around.
From my perspective, my life history has been compartmentalized and I recall many very different
chapters, that ended and another one began, as if someone else wrote my life as a chapter book.
These chapters are defined by my choices and my relationship with God, not by chronology, per se,
and each phase I pondered "what is it about me that God wanted me here on Earth at this time?"
Most scholars identify specific phases in a lifetime, infancy, childhood, adolescence, adulthood, with
subcategories like pubescence and

I am Unique
From the time I was a young child, I have always known I was different from others. Although I
didn't realize I was in any way "smart" until around the fourth grade, I had been skipped up to the
first grade from kindergarten. While friends struggled with homework assignments, finishing them
came easily to me, like riding a bike. Supposedly – I've never ridden a bike.
No, my passion, and talent, from the very beginning, was with written materials. By second
grade, I had my own card for the library and went there at least once a week. While other kids were
rewarded for good behavior with parties, money, or trips with friends, my reward was being able to

"Are you getting ready for Halloween, honey?" It was July. Embarrassed, I mumbled that I was.
From then on, I tried to "mix in" other types of books. I would throw in a couple of "children's
classics" or informative books, and I absorbed facts and knowledge like a sponge. It was no
surprise then, to my mother, although it was to me, when I scored in the 90th percentile or higher in
nearly every subject on the California test of basic skills.
Strangely enough, my intelligence and love for knowledge never set me apart from my peers.
They either didn't know or didn't care, and I was satisfied enough with my social position to not
want to change their apathetic status toward my abilities. In junior high school, I took pleasure in
peaceably "blending into" my environment. I became, for all practical purposes, as much of a clone
as possible without compromising my beliefs or personality.
True, I was a bit odd naturally. So was everyone else. I had belief systems that didn't fit the typical
intermediate–school kid norm. Everyone else just happened to possess those same beliefs. Maybe
it was just a strange school, but I was perfectly happy to sit back in my group of eight girls and be
typical. I had crushes, faked heartbreak, and passed through life without making a wave. This was
the happiest, calmest, most "normal" time of my life. My grades were exceptional, I was in advanced
12. Essay on My Hobby of Fishing
My Hobby of Fishing
One of my favorite hobbies is fishing. Some people regard this as a boring or an old man's sport,
but I value it much more than that. If you have never experienced it, I think you are really missing
something, and so you can't truly give your honest opinion on the sport. Humans have been
captivated with the sea, and catching fish since the beginning of their existence, and the sport has,
in many ways evolved hugely, and yet in many aspects has stayed exactly the same. The sport is
unique compared to others, and I find it can be anything from a relaxing, to a very intense
experience, and every time is different.

This is one of my most memorable experiences because we were just hauling fish after fish into the
boat when we hit a shoal of mackerel off a ship wreck. After almost filling a whole bin bag with fish,
we called it a day, just as a pod of dolphin appeared. My auntie, who lives in Cornwall, was probably
eating fish for weeks after we brought back that many.
Every year now, I go fishing down in Cornwall either in my uncle's boat, or just off the shoreline.
To my mind, each and every time I go fishing is unique just for the experience and no incident is
ever forgotten. The range of things I have caught, in what I think of as not the most exotic of places,
also quite surprises me; I have caught everything from dogfish to cuttlefish, conger eels to sea gulls –
but that's another story, and of course, every anglers worst nightmare, (apart from a hole in the
boat and sinking), catching the bottom (the sea bed) or the rocks because you lose most of your
tackle. Out of all of these things, the most memorable catch to me would be the 5lb bass I caught
this last summer. Bass is one of the most expensive fish, at 5 pounds to the pound and it was quite
pleasing to catch your own, then to roast it on the barbeque that evening. Fishing has proven to be
Britain's number one sport – with

narration, process, division/classification, definition, and argument. The only problems I
encountered when trying to write the essays that were assigned to me by the instructor was
finding suitable subject matter to write about. Once I found my topics for my essay, everything
else became easier. I would first produce a rough draft and then the students, the instructor, and
myself would go over them in class and decided if what I was writing was in its best form. Most
of my rough drafts needed improvement, but if it didn't it wouldn't be a rough draft, so it was
understood. My final drafts were very satisfying for me as well as the grades I received on them.

14. What Leadership Means to Me Essay
My idea of leadership is being able to inspire others, motivate, set a vision, communicate, respect
others, and of course, lead by example. A leader must have an honest understanding of who they
are, what they know, and what they are capable of. To be a successful leader, you have to be able to
convince your followers, not just yourself or your superiors, that you are worthy of being
followed. In my opinion, this can build confidence in their followers to have faith in you, in order to
be able to lead. I strongly believe that good leaders are made rather, and not born. If you have the
desire and willpower, you can become an effective leader. Good leaders are developed through a

The way in which I communicate either builds or can harm the relationship between my soldier
and I. When an important moment of discussion arises, I am always prepared to appropriately
handle the situation at hand. More than anything else, I believe as a leader it is always important
to have great social skills in order to be communicative with clarity and objectiveness, and to have
a good relationship with the ones I lead. As a leader, I understand the meaning of recognition and
praise when one is doing a good job, which too is significantly important. A leader is not always
the first to have an idea, but should be the one who is always seeking out new solutions. One way
of being a productive leader is discovering new ways to accomplish a set of tasks while
maintaining a positive attitude. If a soldier is demonstrating a bad attitude because he feels that
he can not accomplish a task then my job as a leader, would be to steadily encourage that soldier
to work at being all that he can be. A leader to me, does not need to always know the answer, but
believes it to be important to have the initiative to make an answer appear. One form of bad
leadership would be an NCO performing or demonstrating a task that he knows nothing about in
front of his soldiers. In the result of the NCO not performing or demonstrating the task at hand
correctly, the soldiers then become incapable of knowing the proper ways of that task. However, if

youths, between 12–18, have either thought about or attempted suicide in the past year. More than 1

Only in the past two decades, have depression and suicide been taken seriously. Depression is an
illness that involves the body, mood and thoughts. Depression affects the way a person eats and

Adolescence is a stressful experience for all teens. It is a time of physical and social changes
producing rapid mood swings from sadness to elation. Even an emotionally healthy teenager may
have the constant fear of not being good enough, not making the varsity team, or getting good
grades. Special situations such as a parents divorce can trigger intense sadness and feelings of
wanting to die.
People who usually experience depression, can seem fine. But there are many key signs to show that
they are depressed. Such as, change in school performance, eating habits change, constant
unhappiness, low self esteem, guilt, social isolation, inability to concentrate, irritable or angered

Russia is due to the rejection of the single economic deal with the European Union regarding an

acceptable for the people and their country so people start to protest against their President. The
economic factor is one of the reasons for the conflict. Crimea is very popular in its moderate

In Crimea, chemical plants and iron ore is mined. According to UKr Ago Consult, 1.6 million tons

17. Essay on Determination
Some people believe that talent and a winning attitude are all you need in order to succeed in your
endeavors, but a winning attitude means having determination, which many people lack. As seen on
wisdomforthesoul.org, "Real leaders are ordinary people with extraordinary determination."
Determination is an important factor in the overall success or failure of a person's efforts.
Unfortunately, determination is not something that comes easy to the majority of people. To be truly
determined, a person must first be passionate about what they're doing. Passion, however, is only the
first step towards resolution and determination. One must have a clear goal in mind, and be willing to

(www.merriam–webster.com) This is synonymous with my personal definition of determination.
When the end is decided upon, there is no reason or desire to change said goal. A person under
the influence of determination is comparable to a train. The train will not change its direction, as
it cannot, and no matter what, the train will continue along the tracks until it either reaches its
destination, or is stopped by the conductor. For as an example, my plan after high school is to go
to college, and then move into the professional world. When confronted about possibly wanting to
join the military, my answer is absolutely not. Going to college right after high school has always
been my mindset, and there's no way my determination will let that change. I am the metaphorical
train, because my destination is set, and there's no chance for me to adjust my direction. I will not
stray from my goal, because it would mean wrecking myself and all those involved in my
endeavors. There will be mountains in front of me, and people I may have to run over to reach my
goal, but when one's mind is set, they will not waver, and neither will I.
Another dictionary defines determination as firmness of purpose (thefreedictionary.com). When one
is determined, they are ready for what life throws at them, because no matter how obscure the path
may be, they always have a clear view of their final destination. To be determined means to always

18. Essay on Pride
Pride
The word pride in itself isn't an important word but it's meaning implies many things. There are
several different definitions for pride. Pride can be referred to as a type of plant, a form of body
ornamentation, or even a group of lions. The most commonly used definition of pride is being
proud, or having a feeling of great accomplishment and feeling self–satisfaction. The word pride both
positive and negative meanings that can be seen throughout history.
In 1297AD, pride was described as "A consciousness or feeling of what is befitting or due to
oneself or one's position, which prevents a person from doing what he considers to be beneath him
or unworthy of him; esp. as a good quality,...show more content...
Pride was believed to be "a high or overweening opinion of one's own qualities, attainments, or
estate, which gives rise to a feeling and attitude of superiority over and contempt for others" (OED
2). This usage of the word pride gives it a negative cynical connotation, describing people as vain,
arrogant or belittling other people. An example of this could be when someone famous thanks "all
the little people" as seen as in movies and TV as a joke. They are suggesting that they are bigger or
greater than others. Pride is not a negative trait to have if it doesn't get the best of you.
When instilled in the young, pride is a building block of a healthy self–esteem. This is important and
necessary to promote a positive self–worth. A child needs to hear that he or she has done something
well. Praise will reinforce positive characteristics and does not focus on limitations as it builds
pride. He or she should be proud of what they have worked for. Winning a competition is not as
important as doing one's best. When someone does their best they try and strive to do even better
just winning sets limits. Without a healthy self–worth, the child feels inferior and shame. When a
child feels proud of their accomplishments, they feel good about themself. This will encourage the
child to continue to perform at his best. Praise for accomplishments fosters pride. Praise can come
from a parent, friend, teacher, or even one self. It is also important to teach the child to

19. 250 Word Post Analysis
When it comes to creating blogs for a law firm, the length of the post is going to depend upon the
firm's focus and goals. A 250–word post is not going to achieve the same results as a 1,200–word
post, and that must be taken into account when picking what word count is right for your company.
250–word posts – I have found that posts of this level are great for simple safety tips, which make
them great for personal injury lawyers. For my example post, I found a recent bicycle accident in
Salt Lake City and offered bike safety tips.
600–word posts – For a post of this length, I can go into a little more detail. I will generally try to
include more links to laws or other authoritative sources. For example, in the post about child
custody in Massachusetts, I provided links to the Massachusetts legislature, allowing readers to see
the exact wording of the laws.

different types of law. One month could be a personal injury post. The next month might be divorce
