This document contains teachings from a baptism class at The Redeemed Christian Church of God on the topics of repentance, justification, sanctification, baptism, the kinds of baptism including water baptism and baptism by the Holy Spirit, and the reasons for water baptism. The key points are that repentance involves sorrow for sins and deciding to abstain, justification cleanses us from sins, sanctification progressively cleanses our souls, baptism should be by immersion in the name of the Trinity, and water baptism represents repentance and joining with Christ in death, burial and resurrection.

3. Justification or New Birth
This is God’s grace whereby we are cleansed from our
sins by which we are able to stand before God as
though we had never sinned.

4. Sanctification [Holiness]
Sanctification is another grace of God by which our
souls are progressively and completely cleansed.
This is the second accomplishment of the grace which
through our faith in the blood of Jesus Christ is
wrought after we have been justified and freed from
our sins or regenerated.

5. Baptism
We believe in baptism by the name of the Father, Son,
and the Holy Sprit. The teaching is revealed in the
New Testament and all Christians should obey this
rule of the Lord.
Every saved soul automatically qualifies for baptism.

6. Kinds of Baptism
Water baptism
We believe that all members of this Church should
experience Water Baptism by Immersion, in the name of
the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost, as believers
who would not add or remove out of the word of God.
Every saved soul automatically qualifies for water
baptism

7. Kinds of Baptism
Baptism of the Holy Ghost
All born again souls should ask for the Holy Spirit from
above, as the Apostles were ordered to wait in Jerusalem
until they were filled from above.
It is the promise of the Father.
It is God’s gift, which He gives to them who obey Him.
It is God’s promise unto them who are far and all whom
the Lord shall call.
Any Christian who receives the baptism of the Holy
Spirit is capable of speaking in tongues.

8. Reasons for Water Baptism
Water baptism stands for a sign and an example of two
things.
It is an outward sign and example of a true repentance
of a sinner from his or her sins.
Anybody that is baptized is joined with Christ in his
death, burial and resurrection.
Therefore anybody baptized is dead to the world and
the evils thereof.

9. Reasons for Water Baptism
The act of water baptism (being immersed in water in
response to receiving salvation) is a very important
first step in the Christian life.
When we are saved, we are spiritually baptized into
Christ and into the Body, the Church.
Baptism in water is an outward representation of these
inward realities.
