2. PALM SUNDAY
The story is simple.
Just 11 verses in the 11 chapter of Mark.
Jesus fulfills scripture by borrowing a colt
and riding towards Jerusalem.
He draws a crowd, energized by news of the
miraculous resurrection of Lazarus.
They spread plam braches and their own clothing
along the road to welcome Jesus.
They cry, “Hosanna!”
“Lord, save me.”
3. Mural painted in a church in Bethphage,
where Jesus began his journey into
Jerusalem.
4. There is a separation between the disciples,
Jesus and the welcoming crowd..
5. For with the Lord
there is steadfast love,
and with him is great power
to redeem.
Ordinary people viewing extraordinary
events. Some are even distracted. That’s
Jesus in the background.
6. He who raised Christ from
the dead will give life to your
mortal bodies also through
his Spirit that dwells in you.
The colt is a symbol of peace.
Warriors ride on more powerful animals.

7. Focus on the crowd. Women and
children peeking from behind.
Boys hanging from trees.

8. Those who walk during the day
do not stumble,
because they see the
light of this world.
Jesus passes through the
city gates. He leaves behind
the host of heaven. See the
angels in the sky!

9. Artist Fred Stratton changes our
point of view. Look at the lower
part of the painting.
Who are we that many in the
crowd are looking up at us?
