2. Over 40 percent of the
companies that were at the
top of the Fortune 500 in
2000 were no longer there
in 2010
3. Over 70 percent of Fortune 1000 companies will turnover from
2003 to 2013. In other words, over 3/4 of the existing captains
of industry will fall from their thrones.
Why? Because they failed to be entrepreneurial.

11. The reality is that most executives don’t use social networks. And, to be

• 64 percent said they visit non-work related
websites
• Men (69%) waste more time than woman (64%)
• Thirty-nine percent of the people who took our
survey said they spend a mere 1 hour a week or
less on non-work related items. That’s followed
by 29 percent who spend up to 2 hours a week
wasting time on the computer at work, and 21
percent who waste up to 5 hours a week. Only 3
percent of respondents spend 10 hours or more
on personal tasks while at work in a given week.
28. Wasting time at work…
• Only 18 percent of those surveyed listed the
Internet as a time-waster. The biggest waste of
time, according to 47 percent of our
respondents, is having to attend too many
meetings. That's followed by dealing with office
politics (43 percent), fixing other peoples'
mistakes (37 percent), coping with annoying
coworkers (36 percent), busy work (22 percent)
and returning an abundance of work emails (20
percent). Dealing with bosses came in last at a
mere 14 percent.
29. New Generation and SM in the
workplace

to social media or would attempt to
"sidestep" the rule. One in three ranked social
media access on the job as more important
than salary
Editor's Notes
The message here is that you need to evolve to survive…Think about recent business faliures. Blockbuster, - killed by downloads Borders – killed by amazon , Kodak, Polaroid – killed by digital Blackberry …. Next? if you don’t embrace change you WILL get left behind. Deloitte – 20% of revenue from products or services that didn’t exist 2 years ago
Here’s is a great quote form Nathan Furr at Forbes… there is a great opportunity for you to lead your clients in innovation
I want to share these stats that we are already familiar with not so that we can be amazed at how great FB is or how fast linked in has grown their membership but more to the point of highlighting to you how large the environment of content creation is becoming – opportunity here? Facebookis for personal communication, video and photo sharing
Twitter is for the heat of the moment short messaging – Japan earthquakes, Egypt, Syria share info and pics pre news crews., Consumers also use this when they receive bad service For example in the bank.
New products / competitor demos….
On Good blogs you get journalistic style content but from people who are passionate about their niche and not trying to please an editor or work to a deadline.Blogs mostly have there own individual web addresses so are harder to quantify..but 200 million to care about…
Linkedin is all about professional networks – a great place for finding industry peers globally Join groups in your sector what are people asking / sharing ?
Forums allow users to share views, tips and information … Niche and passionate…
Good news – there is no need to create any content – USE WHAT IS ALREADY OUT THERE!
EXECUTIVE BY INAnd here is part of the problem – we are being led by a lot of management that have their head in the sand – by bringing the information to them that is relevant to their world and now in an environment that is apart of their world it will help to increase buy in So if they aren’t going to find this stuff then maybe you have to …. And how good will that make your relationships?!The future of business comes down to relevancethe recognition of new opportunities and the ability to adapt to them becomes a competitive advantage.
Suprisingly - Menwaste more time than women during work hours
This is what their desktop looks like
Imagine if this world of mayhem could be delivered with RELEVANCY
What if this information could be delivered in Real time? If we are going to trusted advisors to our clients or industry leaders in our space we need to be ahead of the information
Social media is not just for the marketing dept. This information needs to empower all areas of the enterprise – community groups within SP, the ops team need to understand customer complaints, the innovation and research team need to understand where their competitors are moving
The art of this tech is Collecting information across all sources on the web- processing and analysing them so we can deliver them to relevant areasALL online information – SEGMENTED by relevancy of topic/Information
At andT study around online activity and social media in the org Cisco study says 1 in 3 young people ranked access to social information as more important than salarySearching content on the internet was at the bottom of time wastersGoing to meetings (47%) Office politics (43%)Peoples mistakesCoworkers
if you really want to take this to the next level include personal interests into your employees intranet space
These are some of my personal interests
This is what my world looks like just looking at my personal interests alone… if you could feed a select amount of information to each employee that spoke to their interests – how valuable would that be?
