Jeremy Speller, the Director of Learning and Media Services at UCL, discusses how institutions should respond to disasters and communicate during crises. On July 7, 2005 there were explosions on the London underground that closed the entire network. Key staff and reliable communication methods are important parts of an institution's major incident plan and response. Speller analyzes UCL's communication channels and how they can be strengthened, such as through social media, email alerts, and resilient internal networks.
