Hinweis der Redaktion

  1. The Pieta was his life size statue that shows Mary holding Jesus across her knees. This was the only sculpture he made that he ever signed his name on.The Pieta is in St. Peter’s Basilica in Vatican City (inside of Italy)
  2. Michelangelo was considered one of the most talented sculptors in Italy, he was then asked to carve a large statue of the biblical statue “David” (from the story of David and Goliath) out of marble. Many people did not believe he could do it, so he carved it in secrecy, and did not let anyone see it until he finished a few years later. When he completed the statue it was 13 feet tall!!!
  3. In 1508 Michelangelo was asked by the pope to paint the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel.Even though he considered himself to be a sculptor he agreed to paint the ceiling for the Pope.
