1. Happy New Year! It’s exciting to enter a new year and see all that it has to offer. January holds many activities as we have
our ELI field trip, student hearing screens by a local audiologist, and our bi-annual Parent Meeting. Just a reminder that we
do not close for weather reasons unless the public is advised not to drive on the roads. We are set to advertise a closing on
Fox8 if necessary. If you have not already had your conference, please make sure you talk with Mary and Valerie to get
yours scheduled this month. I know they have met with most of the families, but not with all. Speaking of conferences, we
did not close the first Friday in November like we usually do for conference prep, and it delayed conferences meetings by
nearly a month. We previously said we would not be closed the first Friday in April for spring conference prep due to state
training the same month; however, we have decided to close April 5th,
so this delay does not happen again in the spring. I
appreciate your understanding on this matter.
Have a great month! Jeni Hoover, KELC Director

Pictures from the last Month:
Happy New Year KELC Family! We are so excited to start this new year with all of you! This January
we are continuing to explore winter and will be branching into a new investigation as the month
continues. We have a field trip to the Music Settlement at the end of the month to learn about how to tell
stories through dance and movement. We have two (2) swimming days this month and a big party for the
Mad Hatters Tea as well as lots of fun learning every day!
Shuang’s last day was December 31st
. We were sad to see her leave KELC, but excited for her as
she starts her new life adventures. Robin is enjoying the Florida sunshine and will return to us in April.
Mary, Val, Emily, and Karen are excited to be in the classroom every day.
Mary and Val have completed most of their parent conferences; however, there are still
some yet to do, so please reach out to them to schedule a conference meeting for your child if
desired.
Val would love your input on resuming the Parent Leadership Committee. She is
curious if more involvement would be possible if we met in the late afternoon, closer to pick
up time, or on a weekend. Please complete the survey she sent out to give her feedback or
reach out to her if you have questions or ideas.
As always, please feel free to call or email with any questions or concerns! Thank you for
sharing your children with us--we enjoy every minute!
Sincerely, KELC Teaching Staff
