This document discusses the benefits of prenatal stimulation for babies' development. Statistically significant improvements have been shown in babies' IQ, language abilities, musical/creative abilities, attention spans, sleep patterns, and early motor skills from stimulation provided at the right times and methods. Surprisingly, these benefits increased over the first 6 years of life rather than diminishing after birth. Bonding and love between parent and baby were reported as even greater benefits than developmental advantages. The document describes how parents were able to communicate with babies through touch patterns before birth, strengthening bonding.

In addition to increases in IQ, there are other areas where prenatal stimulation helps your baby’s development.
Statistically significant improvements from providing stimulation at the right time and with the right methods have
shown that babies develop:
• Increased language abilities.
• Increased musical & creative abilities.
• Longer attention spans (increases have been documented from 10 seconds to 45 minutes.)
• Sustained sleep (Babies can be put on a sleep schedule before birth.)
• Increased early motor skills and developmental milestones (like sitting up, walking, and talking sooner.)
Additionally, an unexpected finding surprised the researchers. These benefits did not go away after birth or shortly
thereafter as they had expected. In fact, these benefits increased over time!
The initial study showed functional increases each month for the first year, and each year for the first 6 years of the
baby’s life.
Other studies over shorter periods have confirmed this, and have shown these benefits result in larger and larger
gaps over time between the stimulated babies and babies who were not stimulated in the womb.
It is now believed that these advantages could well remain until adulthood, although studies so far have not gone past
2. the first 6 years.
Even with all of the wonderful advantages that come from properly stimulating your baby before birth, many of the
mothers in these studies reported that everything mentioned so far was not the greatest benefit they derived from
their efforts.
So what was? Many families reported that the bonding and love that resulted was even more important than the
developmental benefits. Families who participated in the studies felt closer to their infant at birth and believe that the
baby knew its family upon arrival.
So how can this be?
Imagine, for a Moment, that you were a participant in one of these studies and you found you could play a game with
your baby so that you pat the baby once and then the baby kicks back. Then, when you pat twice the baby kicks back
twice.
Amazing, huh?
After the baby gets good at that, you pat your baby in one place and then another going in a circle all the way around
your tummy and the baby turns around inside you to follow along kicking in the exact same place you just patted. You
simply can’t deny that your baby is learning when this occurs.
How would that make you feel?
Would you have any doubt you were communicating with your Baby? When you can have a two-way communication
with your Baby while s/he’s still inside you, doesn’t that make your child feel more like a real person?
When this happens, you are getting to experience some of the same bonding feelings you get from holding your baby
for the first time after it’s born, and this happens three months or more before birth.
Can you see why the parents in the study thought this was so exciting? This also becomes a way for Dad to
communicate and bond with the baby too, both through talking to it, and through playing the same games as Mom
does.
In order to play this game and other learning games with your baby, it is important to understand what to do and when
to do it so you will get optimum results.
Over-stimulation or using incorrect methods might potentially be harmful, so we’ll explain all this to you in this
enrichment guide. In short, nothing done after birth can replace the prenatal education you can provide in only 13
minutes a day.
Enjoy the journey,
