Sedentary and Intellectual Employment Risks

Sedentary and Intellectual Employment
Introduction
Workplaces all around the world are adopting sedentary
working lifestyles. Healthcare
management occupation is one. These intellectual jobs require
sedentary work. It can possibly be
viewed as a reward for required capabilities. There's pros and
cons in intellectual and sedentary
employment. Here we'll mention a few. Healthcare management
jobs are becoming only
available to those considered as intellectual. With the
employee's intellectuality they're required
to call the shots, and do more sedentary labor than physical.
Desk jobs, and office jobs fit the
description. Since they're already in the know they will create
and manage plans to make sure a
job is carried out correctly. This is probably more elementary to
them than it would be to
someone putting in physical labor, and vice versa. There's
someone fit for everything.
If done right it can be the rise in a healthcare setting through
quality and quantity. If it fails it can
be a catastrophic domino effect on the company and the
employees. The con comes in when
those that hold intellectual and sedentary employment, have
rarely, if ever, been on the outside of
the chair or office. It is easy to tell someone what to do. Can the
person giving orders also carry
them out? Intellectual employment saves a lot of physical
thinking and acting in humans. It
increases room for errors and road blocks. We should enforce
physical labor being a requirement
to avoid harming our body and altering the employer's health.
The Sedentary Lifestyle Problem
It is very important for hospitals, or any healthcare setting to
inform the employee of the
risks associated with their job description. Sedentary
employment offers the benefit of not
standing over 6 hours out of an eight-hour work day. They are
also permitted to only lift so many
Sedentary and Intellectual Employment
pounds. To most people this may sound enticing, it sounds like
just the job that they’ll choose to
retire with. The disclaimer is that this is not compatible with the
human body, interferes with
proper communication in the workplace, and can possibly lead
up to lawsuits against the
company. Furthermore, sedentary employment does everything,
but promote and contribute to a
healthy lifestyle. It isn’t “America friendly” because it also
contributes to weight gain. For the
healthcare company it promotes faster service with the
intelligence of technology, and outwit
competitors with being able to perform additional testing. These
gadgets can handicap the mind
from doing what has been embedded in Western culture for
survival, cognitively and critically
thinking. “Developing our abilities to think more clearly, richly,
fully—individually and
collectively— is absolutely crucial to solving world problems.”
Adrian West (2009). Intelligence
is put in place to resolve and reduce errors in healthcare
settings. The problem is that Employers
become too dependent upon this. If you lose these muscles,
you’ll lose them. This is where
intelligent employment becomes a risk.
Research on The Impact of Sedentary and Employment
The human body has a neutral posture. When switching
positions there are certain ways
to pose to not distort the bones and muscles in the body (Dr.
Barlow). Desk jobs most likely
require typing, and a lot of work regarding the hand. Over the
years of usage, the joints and
bones in the hands and wrist are at risk for arthritis or gout.
According to research in the article
‘The Amount of Time Spent in Sedentary Behavior in the
United States’ it is stated that …"with
the evolution of the technology age, sedentary time is reported
to be increasing...”. It needs to be
monitored along with the same importance of monitoring quality
and quantity in competency of
an employee. It is understood that some people require and are
restricted to this type of
Sedentary and Intellectual Employment
employment because of disabilities. Intellectual employment is
almost inevitable to come across,
because, of course, technology is taking over today. Employers
are benefiting from switching to
a more intellectual form of work by not needing as many
laborers, and also communication is
made easy for the company, and can contribute in a way to save
on costs and time. Today you
can communicate with a subordinate or coworker every day and
may have not used much energy
to ever see them face to face. With this being the new form of
running a company you’re now
able to have a sedentary lifestyle at work and outside of work.
Solution
s to Intellectual and Sedentary Employment Risks
Some solutions to not letting the advantage of the sedentary
lifestyle from the intelligence
of technology that’s running a healthcare setting is to try to
manually perform as many activities
as possible that the occupation allows. While doing so the
employers can add cardio by walking
to one another to communicate instead of emailing, and texting
to communicate. Also, before
running to online manuals and instructions in the healthcare
company's intranet we can manually
break the problem down in smaller pieces. It’ll also help if we
reach out to receive feedback from
a coworker within that department who shares expertise on the
situation. We can question every
thought that arises and action plan, because this can cause
errors from primary reliance upon
computers. Our thinking can also cause errors so avoiding
limitations on sources available could
increase solutions and also create better and creative quality.
Intellectual and Sedentary
Employment
The Importance of Hospital Employees Reporting These Errors
Sedentary and Intellectual Employment
It is important for hospitals to report these errors because
some people are at risk by
simply not being clearly informed on what they’ve signed up
for. There are lawyers being paid,
and doctors writing out notes to limit employers to only assign
some employees to sedentary
work. Hospitals have put into place special codes for when the
system is down. When this
happens hopefully, it is rare, the departments are affected when
employees who primarily rely on
technology can’t function to perform their jobs without it. To
avoid this all healthcare settings
should practice manually running their department as much as
fire drills are practiced. Areas like
the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare
Organizations are prompted to come out to
prevent these problems are reoccurring. If it is a recurring
problem the department can be shut
down.
Supportive Ideas on Sedentary Employment in Healthcare
In this situation, we all are well aware of the situation that
quitting the job isn’t our top
option for the majority. Supportive Care Matters suggest
conducting stand up meetings,
scheduling lunch hour exercise, and changing seating
arrangements throughout the day. There’s
needs to be a balance in work and a healthy lifestyle. Life
outside of work is just as important as
maintaining the job well. Healthcare settings should enforce
health in employees as well as
patients.
Conclusion
Lastly, it is important for healthcare settings to turn to
intellectual and sedentary employment
because in most cases errors are reduced, competence is
increased, and costs are decreased. It has
Sedentary and Intellectual Employment
to be acknowledged as a health risk as well as a benefit to
healthcare employment. We can
promote these type of workplace lifestyles while being mindful
of one's health.

Running head Intellectual and Sedentary Employment# .docx

  • 1. Running head: Intellectual and Sedentary Employment<#> Sedentary and Intellectual Employment Risks 08/03/2019 Sedentary and Intellectual Employment Introduction Workplaces all around the world are adopting sedentary working lifestyles. Healthcare management occupation is one. These intellectual jobs require sedentary work. It can possibly be
  • 2. viewed as a reward for required capabilities. There's pros and cons in intellectual and sedentary employment. Here we'll mention a few. Healthcare management jobs are becoming only available to those considered as intellectual. With the employee's intellectuality they're required to call the shots, and do more sedentary labor than physical. Desk jobs, and office jobs fit the description. Since they're already in the know they will create and manage plans to make sure a job is carried out correctly. This is probably more elementary to them than it would be to someone putting in physical labor, and vice versa. There's someone fit for everything. If done right it can be the rise in a healthcare setting through quality and quantity. If it fails it can be a catastrophic domino effect on the company and the employees. The con comes in when those that hold intellectual and sedentary employment, have rarely, if ever, been on the outside of the chair or office. It is easy to tell someone what to do. Can the person giving orders also carry them out? Intellectual employment saves a lot of physical thinking and acting in humans. It
  • 3. increases room for errors and road blocks. We should enforce physical labor being a requirement to avoid harming our body and altering the employer's health. The Sedentary Lifestyle Problem It is very important for hospitals, or any healthcare setting to inform the employee of the risks associated with their job description. Sedentary employment offers the benefit of not standing over 6 hours out of an eight-hour work day. They are also permitted to only lift so many Sedentary and Intellectual Employment pounds. To most people this may sound enticing, it sounds like just the job that they’ll choose to retire with. The disclaimer is that this is not compatible with the human body, interferes with proper communication in the workplace, and can possibly lead up to lawsuits against the company. Furthermore, sedentary employment does everything, but promote and contribute to a
  • 4. healthy lifestyle. It isn’t “America friendly” because it also contributes to weight gain. For the healthcare company it promotes faster service with the intelligence of technology, and outwit competitors with being able to perform additional testing. These gadgets can handicap the mind from doing what has been embedded in Western culture for survival, cognitively and critically thinking. “Developing our abilities to think more clearly, richly, fully—individually and collectively— is absolutely crucial to solving world problems.” Adrian West (2009). Intelligence is put in place to resolve and reduce errors in healthcare settings. The problem is that Employers become too dependent upon this. If you lose these muscles, you’ll lose them. This is where intelligent employment becomes a risk. Research on The Impact of Sedentary and Employment The human body has a neutral posture. When switching positions there are certain ways to pose to not distort the bones and muscles in the body (Dr. Barlow). Desk jobs most likely require typing, and a lot of work regarding the hand. Over the
  • 5. years of usage, the joints and bones in the hands and wrist are at risk for arthritis or gout. According to research in the article ‘The Amount of Time Spent in Sedentary Behavior in the United States’ it is stated that …"with the evolution of the technology age, sedentary time is reported to be increasing...”. It needs to be monitored along with the same importance of monitoring quality and quantity in competency of an employee. It is understood that some people require and are restricted to this type of Sedentary and Intellectual Employment employment because of disabilities. Intellectual employment is almost inevitable to come across, because, of course, technology is taking over today. Employers are benefiting from switching to a more intellectual form of work by not needing as many laborers, and also communication is made easy for the company, and can contribute in a way to save on costs and time. Today you
  • 6. can communicate with a subordinate or coworker every day and may have not used much energy to ever see them face to face. With this being the new form of running a company you’re now able to have a sedentary lifestyle at work and outside of work. Solution s to Intellectual and Sedentary Employment Risks Some solutions to not letting the advantage of the sedentary lifestyle from the intelligence of technology that’s running a healthcare setting is to try to manually perform as many activities as possible that the occupation allows. While doing so the employers can add cardio by walking to one another to communicate instead of emailing, and texting to communicate. Also, before
  • 7. running to online manuals and instructions in the healthcare company's intranet we can manually break the problem down in smaller pieces. It’ll also help if we reach out to receive feedback from a coworker within that department who shares expertise on the situation. We can question every thought that arises and action plan, because this can cause errors from primary reliance upon computers. Our thinking can also cause errors so avoiding limitations on sources available could increase solutions and also create better and creative quality. Intellectual and Sedentary Employment The Importance of Hospital Employees Reporting These Errors
  • 8. Sedentary and Intellectual Employment It is important for hospitals to report these errors because some people are at risk by simply not being clearly informed on what they’ve signed up for. There are lawyers being paid, and doctors writing out notes to limit employers to only assign some employees to sedentary work. Hospitals have put into place special codes for when the system is down. When this happens hopefully, it is rare, the departments are affected when employees who primarily rely on technology can’t function to perform their jobs without it. To avoid this all healthcare settings should practice manually running their department as much as fire drills are practiced. Areas like
  • 9. the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations are prompted to come out to prevent these problems are reoccurring. If it is a recurring problem the department can be shut down. Supportive Ideas on Sedentary Employment in Healthcare In this situation, we all are well aware of the situation that quitting the job isn’t our top option for the majority. Supportive Care Matters suggest conducting stand up meetings, scheduling lunch hour exercise, and changing seating arrangements throughout the day. There’s needs to be a balance in work and a healthy lifestyle. Life outside of work is just as important as maintaining the job well. Healthcare settings should enforce
  • 10. health in employees as well as patients. Conclusion Lastly, it is important for healthcare settings to turn to intellectual and sedentary employment because in most cases errors are reduced, competence is increased, and costs are decreased. It has Sedentary and Intellectual Employment to be acknowledged as a health risk as well as a benefit to healthcare employment. We can promote these type of workplace lifestyles while being mindful of one's health.
