- The Equation Editor in SolidWorks 2012 has been completely revampedfor easier navigation and use. Users will find syntax highlighting especiallyuseful for trouble shooting their equations. Multiple Views includeVariable and Equation View, Dimension View, and Solve Order View.
- Large Design Review lets you open very large assemblies quickly, whilestill retaining capabilities that are useful when conducting design reviewsof large assemblies. In this mode you can use Walkthroughs to visualizethe design, as well as section and measure the assembly. Componentscan be hidden and shown to add clarity on certain areas of the design, andthese hide/show states can be saved and retrieved as Snapshots.Customer Benefits: Access massive assemblies for design reviews withoutdragging out their high powered desktop computer.
- The costing tool helps designers and manufacturers calculate the cost tomanufacture sheet metal and machined parts by automating the cost estimationand quotation process. The costing tool is driven by manufacturingand material information in templates that determine the manufacturingcost. Whenever you change a design, you can immediately see the new,updated cost, along with a detailed cost breakdown based on manufacturingoperations. Costing reports can also be automatically generated.The template editor is an easy to use interface that allows users tomodify templates to match internal manufacturing or vendors processes.In the templates you can specify the material used to create the part, themanufacturing processes (such as laser cutting, bending, or milling), andthe associated costs of these materials and manufacturing operations.The templates also let you create custom operations such as packaging,ERP entry, painting, or cleaning.An important part of any design change is justification. With the costingreport, you can clearly highlight the impact of specific design features orchanges on product cost.The costing report is completely automatic saving time and contains costinformation down to the individual operations.Customer Benefits: Designers can get manufacturing estimates instantly,in order to make faster design decisions when manufacturing cost is a keyfactor. Manufacturers can automate their quoting process by customizingthe costing templates to accurately reflect the costs of their own manufacturingprocesses.
