Angono, Rizal. He was a
music teacher. In 1991, he
was proclaimed by
President Cor Aquino as
National Artist in Music.
4. Antonio J. Molina
(1894-1980)
Antonio J. Molina was a
composer, conductor, and music
administrator who was named a
National Artist of the Philippines
in 1973 for his services to music.
He was also known as Claude
Debussy of the Philippines due
to his use of impressionism in
music.
5. Antonino R. Buenaventura
Antonino R. Buenaventura has
vigorously pursued a musical career
that spanned seven decades of
unwavering commitment to advancing
the frontiers of Philippines music. He
composed song, and compositions for
solo instruments as well as symphonic
and orchestral works based on the
folksongs of various Philippine ethnic
groups.
6. Hilarion F. Rubio
Hilarion F. Rubio was
born in Bacoor Cavite on
October 21, 1902. He was
closely identified with the
position of orchestra
conductor for opera
presentation and with ballet
and dance recitals. He also
did music for movies.
7. Rosendo E. Santos, Jr.
Rosendo E Santos was
born on September 3, 1922
in Cavite City. He was
educated in Cavite schools
and was graduate of the
University of the Philippines.

he later served as a faculty
member.
8. Ryan Cayabyab
Ryan Cayabyab was born in
Manila in 1954, and graduated in
Business Administration at the
University of the Philippines. He
also finished Bachelor of Music
in UP and became a complete
professor for the Department of
Composition and Music Theory
in UP Diliman for about two
decades.
9. Ramon Santos
Ramon Santos is a Filipino
composer, musicologist, and
ethnomusicologist. In 2014, he
was named National Artist
Philippines for Music, and
University Professor Emeritus
Composition and Theory at the
College of Music of the
University of the Philippines. Mr.
Santos was made a Chevelier
del'ordre arts et Letters in 1987.
10. Josefino "Chino" Toledo
He is a Filipino composer and
conductor. He teaches music
composition and theory at the
University of the Philippines College
of Music, and is cofounder of the
Metro Manila Community Orchestra.
He is an active and recognized figure
in the contemporary Asian music
scene. Toledo's music is characterized
by great energy and often bears a
relationship to the traditional music
of Southeast Asia.
11. Dr. Francisco F. Feliciano
Dr. Feliciano was born on
February 19, 1941, and obtained his
degree in Music Composition from
the Hochschule der Kuenste in
Berlin, Germany, his Masters in
Music Composition from the
University of the Philippines and his
Master of Musical Arts and
Doctorate in Musical Arts,
Composition at Yale University
