  3. 3. TITLE Nurses’ Knowledge Regarding Management of Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) at Rangpur Medical College Hospital.
  4. 4. INTRODUCTION “Leukemia is cancer of the white blood cells. It develops in the bone marrow and spreads into the blood and to other organs. There are several types of leukemia. They are grouped in two ways: by how rapidly the disease develops (acute vs. chronic leukemia) and by the type of blood cell involved (lymphocytic and myeloid leukemia being the most common). “Acute” means that this leukemia can progress quickly if not treated, and would probably be fatal in a few months. Chronic means that this leukemia can progress slowly from months to year.Acute myeloid leukemia is more common in female.the most common treatment of AML is Chemotherapy (Dunphy,CH.2011).

  6. 6. OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY General objective To assess the Nurses knowledge Regarding Management of Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML).

Specific objectives 1.To find out the Socio-demographic information of the respondent. 2.To assess the knowledge of the Nurses Regarding Management of Acute Myeloid Leukemia. 3.To assess the knowledge of Nurses about Acute Myeloid Leukemia . 4.   16. 16. CONCLUSION This descriptive cross sectional study reflect that the majority of the respondents knowledge on AML was moderate. This studies can Improve knowledge about their clinical illness and how they will behave to prevent its complications. This studies helps to know about what is acute myeloid leukemia, types, causes, investigation, treatment, management and complications.
