A non-communicable disease (NCDs) is a medical condition or disease that is
not caused by infectious agents.
NCDs can refer to chronic diseases which last for long periods of time and pro
gress slowly.
A chronic disease is one lasting 3 months or more.
Chronic diseases generally cannot be prevented by vaccines or cured by medi
cation, nor do they just disappear.

The findings indicate the high burden of selected
NCDs among the low wealth quintile populations
in rural areas and wealthy populations in urban
areas. Particular attentions may be necessary to
address the problem of NCDs among these
groups.
