  4. 4. MONOLOGUE In theatre, the monologue can be a great gift. It's a gift to the audience to look up on that stage and see inside the thoughts of a human being. For the great monologues are private moments, secrets, emotions, heartbreaks, wonders.

  6. 6. Ad  Function to promote products / services to other people / consumers. Ads can be spread through several media, among others: a) Print media b) Electronic media LIMITATIONS OF MASS MEDIA ADVERTISING In general, the limitations of mass media advertising is as follows: 1) not strong enough to influence the audience with a strong characteristic. 2) duration too quickly (for TV and radio) so that messages conveyed are sometimes less. 3) The occurrence of the sleeper effect, or the effect of advertising will be reduced in approximately six weeks.
  7. 7. Announcement  Finoza (1995: 106) argues that the letter containing the notice is a notice to the people that need to be known by anyone with an interest in accordance with the contents of this announcement.  Principles To make a good announcement, announcement makers need to know the main points of the announcement, namely:  the purpose of the announcement  the content of the announcement  target announcement  media used  language announcements  the form of the announcement.
  8. 8. Example video monologue  This advertisement describes products that clean drinking water and genuine as the baby is still pure.
  9. 9. Question ??? 1. mentioned various monologues! 2. limitations mentioned in mass media advertising! 3. Mention the principal staple of the announcement!
  10. 10. ANY QUESTION ???
  11. 11. The Need to Speak In every monologue a character must need to speak. In every monologue you write, you must determine the need for the character to speak. • What drives the character? • What is the character’s motivation?
  12. 12. Inanimate Object Monologue Choose an object and give it a voice. Is it happy? Unhappy? What are its dreams, hopes, and fears? What does it want? What is its past and what does it hope for the future? Write a monologue for this object – imagine it is speaking. What would it say?
  13. 13. How do I write a quality monologue?  A monologue should have a beginning, middle and an end.  A monologue should always reveal something – be it a story, a secret, an answer to a question, or an emotional outpouring.  A monologue offers insight into the character.
  14. 14. Example: (soda can) How could you just use me like this? I thought we had something together. I thought I meant something to you. When you chose me, I was so excited. ME, you picked me out of everyone else. I was a little worried about leaving home, even though it was always, always cold in there, but I just knew that together we would have the most exciting and fabulous life. I gave up everything for you. And you --- you just threw me away. You used me up, and threw me away. Was this all I meant to you? Was I just some … container to you? Nothing more? You could at least have put me in the recycling bin.
