Discover Mekong River with Bassac Cruise

All three Bassac are built of wood according to the tradition of the rice barges of the Mekong delta,
with amendments where safety standards require. The Bassac are elegant rides sharing the same
standards and mostly differing in size. Bassac I actually once was a rice barge, which we bought and
overhauled into the cozy cabin cruiser it is today, and although Bassac II and III are entirely new hull
designs, more adapted to their present purpose, they were built with the same craftsmanship and
according to the same tradition.
Option 1: Can Tho - Cai Be or vv
Option 2: Can Tho - Mang Thit - Can Tho
Itinerary:
Route 1: Can Tho - Cai Be or vv
Day 1: Can Tho (L/D)
We board Bassac Cruise at Can Tho at Ninh Kieu pier. Upon arrival, we enjoy welcome drink,
introduction to the ship and crew and check into the cabins. We will then cruise downstream of the
Hau River. Lunch on Bassac Cruise while en route. We take a tour near Tra On floating market.
Branching into Nicolai canal, we cruise towards the Mang Thit and Co Chien Rivers. Rest on the upper
deck or enjoy the open bar in scenery of rice fields, sugar cane, woods on the near banks.
In the afternoon, we visit of a village on the banks of river Mang Thit. Here, you will have chance to
see the way of life and hospitality of the local inhabitants. Visit of the orchard or rice fields nearby.
Boarding back, complimentary drink as a welcome back on board. Open bar and rest on the deck
enjoying the sunset. The crew will serve dinner while the Bassac is cruising Mang Thit River towards
her anchorage point for the night.
The Bassac Cruise sets anchor for the night on river Mang Thit.
Day 2: Cai Be (B)
06:30 Departure towards Cai Be. Have breakfast while enjoying the scenery on the banks. We cruise
across the Co Chien river then branches into Cho Lach canal for 30 minutes through the traffic of sand
and rice barges, in a scenery of fruit drying facilities and wooden ship building yards.

2. Arrival in Cai Be, check-out and boarding of a local boat for a tour of Cai Be floating market and
handicraft.
End of the services on shore at Cai Be late morning.
Route 2: Can Tho - Mang Thit - Can Tho
Day 1: Can Tho (L/D)
We board at Can Tho at Ninh Kieu pier. Upon arrival, we enjoy welcome drink, introduction to the ship
and crew and check into the cabins. We will then cruise downstream of the Hau River. Lunch on board
while en route.
We arrive Thot Not in the afternoon. Here, we transfer on the small to boat access to the bamboo
village in Thot Not. We will have chance to see the daily life of the local while walking to visit the
village. Boarding back at dusk, rest on the deck for the sunset while taking some drinks at the bar.
The dinner is served on board. The Bassac cruises the way back to Can Tho and casts anchor near Can
Tho for the night.
Overnight on the Bassac Cruise
Day 2: Can Tho (B)
Breakfast is available from 06:30, while the Bassac is cruising towards Can Tho city. We arrive the
Cai Rang floating market, check out and transfer onto a local boat to visit the floating market, the
nearby arroyos and gardens and return to the Ninh Kieu pier.
Arrival at Ninh Kieu, Can Tho, late morning. Trip ends.
