Kinship systems make an interesting area
for componential analysis. Kinship is
universal since all humans are related to
other humans through blood ties and
through marriage, but kinship systems
differ from society to society. A
relationship is a kind of predicate
6. Hyponymy
Hyponymy is a word with a particular
meaning that is included in the meaning of
a more general words. For example dog
and cat are hyponymys of animals
7. Example :
• 1a Rover is a collie.
• 1b Rover is a dog.
• 2a There are tulips in the vase.
• 2b There are flowers in the vase
8. Synonymy
Synonymys are words that have similar
meanings
Example :
• Alice is skinny.
• Alice is thin.
• Alice is slender
9. Antonym
Antonymys are words that have opposite
meanings
Example :
• Alvin is watching television now.
• Alvin isn’t watching television now.
