Der im Auftrag des BMGFJ erstellte Pflegebericht 2007 zeigt, dass ten-denziell die Anzahl an Pflegepersonen in Krankenhäusern zunimmt. Ebenso hält der Trend zu höherer Qualifikation beim Pflegepersonal an. Da sich jedoch die Belagsdauer pro stationären Aufenthalt verrin-gerte, sank auch die Anzahl an Pflegepersonen pro stationären Auf-enthalt trotz erhöhter Versorgungsdichte gemessen an Pflegeperso-nen pro 1.000 Einwohner: 2005 standen nur mehr 16,3 diplomierte Pflegepersonen und 2,9 Pflegehilfspersonen pro 1.000 stationäre Auf-enthalte zur Verfügung. In Österreich soll eine verpflichtende Regis-trierung für Pflegeberufe erfolgen. Empfohlen wird die Registrierung von Daten zu Person, Berufsausbildung und Spezialisierung sowie An-gaben zur Berufstätigkeit.
