On February 29, 1960 at 11:47 pm, an earthquake struck Agadir, Morocco, killing 15,000 people and flattening most dwelling units. The late King Mohammed V said that while fate caused the destruction, the reconstruction of Agadir would depend on the faith and strong will of the people. Over 47 years later, Agadir has rebuilt itself into a place known for its 340 days of sunshine per year, where Arab, European, and Berber cultures are mixed, and where dreams can become reality.
