Objectives
At the end of this lab you will be able to:
► Create and conduct a formal review

Description
► In this lab, you log in as Bob. You create a formal review of a collection of requirements and assign team
members to participate. Then, you log in as different team members and participate in a formal review. You
log in again as Bob, the review creator, to monitor the review progress and to finalize it after all of the
participants are finished.

Task 1: Creating a review from a collection
In this task, you create a formal review to solicit input from stakeholders on proposed features to be addressed in an
upcoming release.
1. Open the lab environment at https://jazz-server:9443/rm/web and log in as Bob the analyst by typing bob for
both the user ID and password.
2. On the All Projects page, in the My Projects section, find the JKE Banking (Requirements Management) project
and click Show Artifacts.
3. From the Collections menu, click Browse Collections.
4. Open the edit menu of the Release 1 planning collection and click Create Review from Collection.

5. Name the review Release 1 initial planning, select Formal as the review type, and then click OK.
The review is created and opens.
6. In the review, specify a due date that is 3 work days from the current date.
7. Include these instructions: Features proposed for Release 1 — please review.
8. In Participants, add these people:
a. Curtis as an approver
b. Ursula as a reviewer
c. Tanuj as an optional reviewer.
To change a participant’s role, select the name, and click Change Participants.

9. Scroll down and view the artifacts that are included in the review.
TIP: If you want to add artifacts to the review, click Add Artifacts.
10. Click Save Review.
11. Click Start Review.
The review is now active. If the email service has been activated on the server, you can click Send email to
automatically send an email notice to all of the review participants. Or, you can start your email program from the
“Send email message” window.
12. Log out of the project.
Next, you log in as Curtis and review the artifacts.
Task 2: Completing a review as an approver
In this task, you log in as Curtis, the product owner, and complete the Release 1 initial planning review.
1. Log in to the Requirements Management (RM) application as Curtis by typing curtis for both the user ID
and password.
2. Navigate to the JKE Banking (Requirements Management) project dashboard.
3. In the Reviews widget, notice that an active review, “Release 1 initial planning,” is listed.
4. Navigate to the project Artifacts page and expand Reviews in the right sidebar. Notice that the Show my Active
Reviews icon is highlighted and that the “Release 1 initial planning review” is listed.
5. Click Release 1 initial planning.
6. Open each artifact, and for each, click one of these options: Approve/Approve with comments;
Disapprove/disapprove with comments; or Abstain/abstain with comments. Comment on at least one of the
artifacts.
Tip: To close an artifact and return to the review, click Release 1 initial planning in the menu bar. You can also
use the Next and Previous arrows to navigate through the artifacts.
7. After you finish the review, click Done. When you are prompted by a message, click Yes.
8. Return to the Artifacts page of the JKE Banking (Requirements Management) project, expand Reviews, and
then hover over the Release 1 initial planning review.
Notice that the icon changed: it now includes a check mark. When you hover over the review, you see the names of
the artifacts that are in the review and the approval status. You can open the review, but you cannot make changes to
the review at this point.
9. Log out of the project.
Task 3: Completing a review as a reviewer
1. Log in to the RM application as Ursula by typing ursula for both the user ID and password. Navigate to the
JKE Banking (Requirements Management) project dashboard.
2. On the project dashboard, in the Reviews widget, hover over the Release 1 initial planning review to read
information about it, and then click to open it.
Ursula’s role in the review is Reviewer, so she can mark each requirement artifact as either Reviewed or Abstain.
3. Either open each artifact as you did in the previous task and mark each artifact as Reviewed, or from the
Review page, select all of the artifacts and then select either Reviewed or Abstain.

When you select all of the artifacts, you select only the artifacts that are displayed on that page.
4. After you finish the review, click Done. When you are prompted by a message, click Yes.
5. Log out of the project.
Task 4: Finalizing a review
1. Log in to the RM application as Bob, the review creator, and navigate to the JKE Banking (Requirements
Management) project dashboard.
2. In the Reviews widget, notice that the review icon indicates that the Release 1 initial planning review is
complete. Hover over the review icon: the hover message indicates that the review has been completed.

3. Open the review.
Notice that Tanuj has not yet finished the review. Because he is an optional reviewer, you can finalize the review
without waiting for his response.
4. If necessary, open the right sidebar, and then expand Artifact Comments to look for comments about the
reviewed artifacts.
Notice that Curtis left a comment.
5. On the Review home page, click Finalize Review. In the message window that opens, click Yes.
6. Return to the Artifacts page of the JKE Banking (Requirements Management) project, expand Reviews, and
notice that the “Release 1 initial planning” review is no longer in the My active reviews list or the All active
reviews list.
7. Click the Show all reviews icon.

Notice that the “Release 1 initial planning” review is listed. The icon indicates that it is a finalized review.
8. Log out of the project.
