PLC programs are created by diverse band of software
coders. Our experience is that equipment owners and their
operators struggle to understand how specific programmed
sequences work especially years after the programmer has
departed..
Current HMI and SCADA visualization is limited to a small
subset of the hidden data available in the PLC network.

Our baseline reporting starts with alarm and warning message acquisition for baselining current system
behavior. Normal operator behavior is to acknowledge and clear alarms, losing valuable data history on
recurring faults.
Alarm and warning codes are our entry into the mind of the programmer by then providing ‘snips’ of the PLC
coding ladder logic chain.

Alarm and Warning messages on the HMI screen are a result of PLC programme sequences failing to execute,
for example tanks failing to reach intended fill levels, valves failing to reach intended position or similar events.
Our software applications record and present the PLC parameter sequence leading up to interruptions which
enable faster remote faulting finding and optimisation.

When faced with faults, operators are limited by lack of information. The temptation to reset and restart the
system leads to setpoint changes to overcome stalled control systems.
Our software records and alerts to setpoint changes, which if uncontrolled lead to ever increasing sequence
interruptions as you deviate further from the ‘blueprint’.

Presenting setpoint changes in chronological order allows your process scientists to understand actual custom
and practice. This information is normally lost without memory.
Embedding memory enables us to learn from recorded experience and train, explain and address recurring

A nice example of the hidden data value in your PLC is valve actuation tracking. We monitor and report on time
to reach intended position for our clients, and give early warnings on specific valves trending towards trouble.
This data is already there in your PLC if the actuators have limit switches.
