1. Our Synopsis
A teenage vampire who's recently joined high school is trying to go day to day being
undetected. Ever since he moved into town he has realised that whenever he feels
sexual desires he becomes a slave to his vampire side. It is impossible for him to
hold it back and due to a recent encounter with a young blooded female he ends up
killing her and tries to put it behind him, as his urges continue his best friend
becomes suspicious and realises his true identity, his best friend begins to assist him
through this journey of temptation which is not easy and comes with a lot of
danger.
2. Genre- Horror
Horror is a genre of film which aims to gain a negative emotional reaction
from viewers by playing with common fears of ours. Horror's tell dark
stories and taunt our imagination, sometimes by referring to the unknown
and opposition of life, death. Horror films most commonly deal with
hidden fears, nightmares and unknown terror and many also are
combined with the genre's of Sci-fi and Thriller. Our opening will contain
these elements of horror but contrasted with goodness, the reason why is
because our character will have internal conflict with himself due to
temptation and realising the difference between what he wants and what
he needs.
4. Target Audience
piece is predicted to be rated a 15 due to its infrequent use of strong language,

implied however not graphically depicted violence, absence of nudity, mild sexual
references and overall disturbing dark tone.
The 12A rating seemed more fitting due to the discreet and implied nature of both
violence and sexual activity however the aim of our piece was to create a disturbing
psychological horror theme and this would not be suitable for younger audiences
based on this statement by the BBFC
"The overall tone of a film or DVD, and the way it makes the audience feel may affect
the classification. For example, a work which has a very dark or unsettling tone which
could disturb the audience would be less likely to be passed 12A even if the individual
issues in the film were considered acceptable under the BBFC guidelines. Similarly, if a
work is particularly positive or reassuring this may stop it being pushed up a category
from 12A to 15.“
Therefore a 15 rating has been decided upon as appropriate.
5. Narrative research
Violence is an easy thing to write into a narrative however when the time comes
to make a decision between explicitly showing the violence or implying it
without graphic depictions; creative options are opened up to a director and
producer.
In this short film violence is both explicitly depicted and explicitly implied. The
latter is cleverly done through showing the aftermath of an attack instead of
focussing on the injuries as they are inflicted. These are the issues that arise
when taking into consideration what audience your piece is aimed at and what
rating is expected to be placed upon it.

6. Main Character
The main character is called Xavier,
he is considered to be a dark soul
with little remorse, when instead
he has feelings which he cannot
voice. He feels a constant urge to
kill and walks silently going
unnoticed at all times. He lurks
around his victims and stalks them
like prey but somewhere inside a
conscience speaks to him and tears
his mind in two. The battle
between himself going on in his
head has lead to the point where
he is on the brink of insanity. Can
he overcome this?
