1. PROBLEM FRAMING
Redesign the current tables and chairs that are
being used for the current secondary school
classrooms so to allow easy movement of the
tables and chairs around the classroom.
Target audience: secondary school students.
2. THE CURRENT DESIGN OF TABLE AND

Classroom can contain around 40 students using the
current tables and chairs.
3. ASSUMED PROBLEMS FACED
Tables and chairs itself restricts students to
move them easily due to friction and weight.
Arrangement of tables also made grouping of
students hard due to restricted movements.
Time wasting in order to move the chairs and
tables around for group work.
Loud irritating noises will be produced when
moving the tables, when the rubber stopper on
the metal legs are being worn out.

19. EVALUATION OF BOTH IDEAS
Idea 1 (Roller set) Idea 2 (Connector set)
Might be heavy to push due to User freedom (because still acts
the extra platform to support the as a normal table and chair)
table and chair’s weight.
Scooter look-alike (interesting) The button for the chair might
face problems as user will need
more effort to press the button
(squatting down)
Have to withstand a person’s Slits might prove to be a safety
average weight. (For example, a hazard (protruding.)
overweight person)
Not difficult to understand on
how to easily connect table and
chair together.
20. CHOICE OF IDEATION
2 Simple to use, as it is still a
normal table and chair.
User is not being restricted
in using the table and chair.
Fun concept of connecting
the table and chair to allow
easy moving of the table-
chair set.
21. USER FEEDBACK ON THE NEW
DESIGN
81% of the people finds it easy to use.
66.7% of the people wants this design to be
implemented in current secondary school
classrooms.
22. USER FEEDBACK (II)
Good Bad
Very useful when coming to Might have a weight issue.
moving the tables and chairs.
Time-saving Possibility of malfunctioning.
Fun
Easy to move them about,
without use much strength
More convenient
24. REFINEMENT
2
Redesigning the slits to not
letting it act as a safety
hazard due to it protruding
out.
Redesigning the button to
activate the rollers on the
back legs due to extra
effort needed for the
students to activate it
25. IMPROVEMENT TO THE CHAIR
Instead of protruding slits, the chairs will have
the slits being carved into them, in order to take
away the safety hazard and prevent the slits
from breaking.
A lever will be used instead of a button, as a
button will require more force to press and
activate and it requires more effort from the
student.
Seat adjuster for the student to adjust to their
comfortable height.
26. THE TABLE
Curved compartment
to prevent items
inside from dropping
out when moving the
table.
Round joint to slide
into the slit to allow
moving of the
connected table and
chair. (round to
prevent injuries.)
Button to activate
rollers at the front 2
legs to move the
table.
27. THE CHAIR
Adjustable neck
rest for student’s
height.
Holes on the
back rest for
ventilation.
Slits carved into
the seat to
prevent safety
issues.
Lever placed at
the back of the
chair legs to
bring out the
rollers for the
back legs.
