is a structured set of learning
outcomes or tasks that
educators usually call goals
and objectives (Howell and
Evans, 1995)
INSTRUCTION
It is the actual engagement of
learners of the planned learning
activities.
HOW IS CURRICULUM LINKED TO INSTRUCTION?
Knowledge of the curriculum results
to a successful assessment,
evaluation, decision making and
teaching.
HOW TO ENSURE THAT INSTRUCTION
ADDRESSES THE CURRICULUM?
Does instruction provide learning experience that:
• Bring about optimum benefit to the learners?
• Approximate real life situations?
• Encourage the learners to inquire further?
• Heighten learners interest and motivation?
• Involve the use of different senses?
• Provide opportunities for broad and deep study?
• Provide mastery of total learning?
THUS, IT IS IMPORTANT THAT THE
CURRICULUM CONTENT AND
OBJECTIVES SHOULD MATCH WITH THE
INSTRUCTION FROM WHERE LEARNING
EXPERIENCES ARE PROVIDED.

The curriculum development process
systematically organizes what will be
taught, who will be taught, and how it will
be taught.
ESSENTIAL CONSIDERATIONS FOR
CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT:
• Issue/problem/need is identified.
• Characteristics and needs of learners.
• Changes intended for learners.
• The important and relevant content.
• Method to accomplish intended outcomes.
• Evaluation strategies for methods, content, and
intended outcomes.

Curriculum and Instruction

  • 2. CURRICULUM is a structured set of learning outcomes or tasks that educators usually call goals and objectives (Howell and Evans, 1995)
  • 3. INSTRUCTION It is the actual engagement of learners of the planned learning activities.
  • 4. HOW IS CURRICULUM LINKED TO INSTRUCTION?
  • 5. Knowledge of the curriculum results to a successful assessment, evaluation, decision making and teaching.
  • 6. HOW TO ENSURE THAT INSTRUCTION ADDRESSES THE CURRICULUM?
  • 7. Does instruction provide learning experience that: • Bring about optimum benefit to the learners? • Approximate real life situations? • Encourage the learners to inquire further? • Heighten learners interest and motivation? • Involve the use of different senses? • Provide opportunities for broad and deep study? • Provide mastery of total learning?
  • 8. THUS, IT IS IMPORTANT THAT THE CURRICULUM CONTENT AND OBJECTIVES SHOULD MATCH WITH THE INSTRUCTION FROM WHERE LEARNING EXPERIENCES ARE PROVIDED.
  • 9. CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT PROCESS The curriculum development process systematically organizes what will be taught, who will be taught, and how it will be taught.

ESSENTIAL CONSIDERATIONS FOR CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT: • Issue/problem/need is identified. • Characteristics and needs of learners. • Changes intended for learners. • The important and relevant content. • Method to accomplish intended outcomes. • Evaluation strategies for methods, content, and intended outcomes.
