1. A private enterprise is any business or organization that is run or
owned by individuals or groups of people without government
control.
Private enterprises have a lot of competition (think of Coca Cola
and Pepsi!) Each company is trying to gain the most profit. Private
enterprises also risk going out of business if they do not keep their
customers happy. Often times they need to be creative and
constantly add new products to keep consumers interested in their
company.
Private enterprises also need to function efficiently in order to
lower prices for consumers. They also do not have the protection
of government funding to keep them functioning in hard times.
This can make owning small businesses especially difficult.
