2. • Ratifying- official approval of a document.
• Federalist- those who supported the
Constitution.
• Anti-federalist- those who criticized the
Constitution (thought it was a slap to the
Revolution)
• Bill of Rights- the first ten amendments of the
Constitution.

3. Principles of the Constitution
• Popular sovereignty- all government power
comes from the people.
• Limited government- the government only
has power that the Constitution gives it.
• Separation of powers- the government’s
power is separated into 3 branches.

4. Principles of the Constitution
• Checks and balances- each branch of
government has the power to limit the actions
of the other two.
• Electoral college- group of persons chosen
from each state that indirectly elects the
President.
