2. INTRODUCTION
Teaching is regarded from traditional scholarship or research with in the academy
is what difference makes to have a problem in versus one the other. In research having a
“problem” is at the heart of investigative process. But in teaching a “problem” is
something don’t want to have, if you have one, you probably want to fixit.
3. The term Research on Teaching and learning may be used inter changeably.
Research on teaching and learning, primarily referred to in the literature as the
scholarship of teaching and learning is a distinctive from of research that is shaped by
multi- disciplinary context. A change in practice that can transform casual observations
about student learning into scholarly worth that frames the questions, systematically
gathers and explores the evidence, reflects on new ideas and crafts the results in a form
that is suitable for public presentations.
Research on teaching and learning welcomes the context of the classrooms in all
its complexity as a resource for understanding. The uniqueness of this research involves
interactions between a teacher, a learner and a context. Classroom teachers can make
enormous contribution to the practice of teaching by their classrooms as laboratories for
the study of learning. Research on teaching and learning involves both continues learning
and productive contributions to knowledge.
4. TEACHING AND LEARNING CONCEPTS
Good Teaching Scholarly
GOOD TEACHING
Teaching involves all faulty, instructors and graduate students engaged in teaching
activities. Good teachers become aware of their own teaching processes and of the effect
of these processes on student learning.
SCHOLARLY TEACHING
Scholarly teaching focuses on engaging with scholarly contribution of others, reflecting
on one’s own teaching practice and on student learning in a particular context.
SCHOLARSHIP OF TEACHING & LEARNING
The scholarship of teaching and learning may involve elements of discovery,
application and integration and is intended to improve practice with in and beyond a
researchers own classroom.

Inquiry or “research” in which new discoveries are made through original
investigation.
2. Research on integration
Work that synthesizes and gives meaning and perspective to isolated facts.
3. Research of application
Work that examines how knowledge can be responsibly applied to consequential

6. CONCLUSION
Individual students may be better suited to learning in a particular way, using
distractive modes for thinking, relating and creating. The notion of students having
particular learning styles has implications for teaching strategies. Within the classroom
teachers need to be sensitive to values which are promoted by family, peers, friends,
religious and cultural backgrounds. Through out the teaching and learning process
instruction should be guided by the goals and objectives of the program
