What is Multimedia ?
 Multimedia refers to content that uses a combination of
different content forms.
 This contrasts with media that use only rudimentary
computer displays such as text-only or traditional forms of
printed or hand-produced material.
 Multimedia includes a combination of text,
audio, still images, animation, video, or
interactivity content forms.
WIMP : "windows, icons, menus, pointer”
• This style of system improves HCI by emulating real-world interactions and providing
better ease to use for non-technical people.
• Users can carry skill at a standardized interface from one application to another.
• Research issues including new apps for new interfaces such as touch screen and air
gestures.
The Web : The World Wide Web (WWW or W3)
• is a system of interlinked hypertext documents that are accessed via the Internet.
• With a web browser, one can view web pages that may contain text, images, videos, and
other multimedia and navigate between them via hyperlinks
Wearable ???
What is Wearable Technology?
What are Wearable Devices?
 The terms “wearable technology“, “wearable devices“, and “wearables”
all refer to electronic technologies or computers that are incorporated
into items of clothing and accessories which can comfortably be worn on
the body.
 Examples of wearable devices:
~ watches, glasses, contact lenses, e-textiles and smart fabrics,
headbands, beanies and caps, jewelry such as rings, bracelets, and hearing
aid-like devices that are designed to look like earrings.
WEARABLE
Oculus Rift .
- is a new virtual reality headset that lets
players step inside their favorite games
and virtual worlds.
- The Rift uses custom tracking technology
to provide ultra-low latency 360° head
tracking, allowing you to seamlessly look
around the virtual world just as you
would in real life.
- provides an approximately 100° field of
view, stretching the virtual world beyond
your peripheral vision.
Sergey Orlovskiy using the first version of the
Oculus Rift development kit (with separate
headphones)
Research Issues
Oculus Rift :
• Will effect our health
E.g.: headache : from eye strain issues.
• Humanity is inherently lazy.
• Need a big space / a room to place the oculus rift.
