Professional Experiences
Reid &Taylor (India) Limited – Mysore, India (2005–2014 Oct) IT. Assistant Manager
Major Projects Handled.
Payroll – Software developed using VB.Net andMS SQL Serverto fulfil the requirement of RTIL. It mainlycovers monthlysalary
process, FullandFinal settlement, Appraisals andstatutoryreports like ESI statement, PF and VPF statements, TDS (against
salary) andLoans andadvances. It interacts withbiometric attendance system to fetch attendance details of an employee to
process salary. It also providesonline leave application, leave approval, attendance regularizationandstatus, leave status and
etc.
Stores And Purchase– Software was developedwith VB6 and MS SQL Server with Crystal Report as reporting tool. Entire
purchase and inventoryare brought under one roof with Account Payable linked to Tally. Approval system is defined in
Purchase indent in order to make Purchase Order and trackeddowntillMaterialIssue. Inventoryis accountedon the basis of
Weighted Average.
Project brief
Besides myroutine functions as anIT Assistant Manager of the Informationsystems Department, I have involvedmyself inthe
following projects:
This project is divided intovarious modules namelyManufacturingandPlanning, Production andPlanning, YarnRoom, Sales
Accounting, Designing, Purchase, Stores, Folding andWarehouse etc.
Module Assignments
Project: Warehouse Client: Warehouse
Synopsis:
1. Packing Module:
The Processedorders receivedfrom the Sales Department as input is validated and checked for availabilitybefore
packingthe Material. The orders are fed intothe computer a Packing slip containing the packedgoods informationis
printed.
2. Invoice Module:
The Packing slipdetailsof the goods packed to be dispatchedis the input for this module. The packedbales are
processed individually; the discounts are appliedas applicable. All the validations to be checkedat the time of
processing the balesare done before the invoice amount is calculated. Invoice numbers are generated buyer wise.
FinallyanExcise Invoice number for eachtransport is generated.
3. Transport Module:
This is an independent Module, after the invoices are generated for eachbale. The transport list of the bales is
generated. Before loading it to the truckthe bales are weighed and the gross weight andNet weight are updated to
the systembefore the Invoices are printed. A DeliveryNote is preparedandsent withthe goods to the customers.
4. Report Generation Module:
All the masters’ informationandtransactioninformation are the input to this Module. The inputs are then given to
queries, the queries basedonthe input gives the results andthe output is viewedon the screen or printed. The
Invoice Reports, Excise Reports, Despatch Summaryandvarious MIS Reports are generated
5. Process Logic of Each Module:
1. Packing Module:
This is the first module; the input is received from the Sales department about the orders received from the
customers. Firstlythe orders received in the form of a document called sale note are checked for availability of the
material withthe inventoryif it is available the orders are processed. The customer information is also an input
process to this module. At the time ofpacking, the finishedgoods receivedfrom folding is given an identification
number calledthe piece number it acts as a checkpoint whether the packedgoods present inthe sale note document
is the same. All the relevant informationabout the material being packedis captured from the piece number. The
goods are packed inthe form of bale andgivena bale number. The output processof this module is the Packi ng Slip
having the details of the goods being packed.
2. Invoice Module:
The Packing SlipDetails is the Input process to this Module. Here the packed bales are processed the discounts
applicable as per the policy, specialdiscounts for buyers, order specific discounts, flat rate discounts are calculated.
This is validated withthe customer information and sale note information. After verificationthe bales are processed.
The bale amount and the invoice amount are calculated. This informationacts as input for Invoice Generation. There
are two phase ininvoice Generation. First the commercial invoice number is generated. After the transport list is
prepared the Excise invoice number is generated.
3. Transport Module:
The packinginformationof the bales to be dispatched acts as the input process for this module. On the day of
dispatchthe balesare weighedbefore loading to the transporter. The Gross weight andNet weight determinedbythe
weighing Scale Machine which is updated inthe packinginformationandsent as output to the Invoice module. The
transport list is generated after the bales are processed which will be despatched for the day.
4. Report Generation Module:
This is the last module. All the masters, packing slip, transport list, invoice act as input to this module. When the
queriesare raisedbythe input process theyare processedandsent to the output process. The output process sends
it to the output device to the printer or screen. Report Module acts as the major information source. to the
management. Many MIS Reports, statutory reports, Despatch Summary, Sorter list, stock list are generated.
Environment : Windows NT
Tools Used : VB6.0, SQL Server 2000, and Crystal Report 8.0, SQL DTS
Team size : 3
Project: Electronic Bale Weight Client: Warehouse
This Module allows the EBW to synchronize the Data that has been generated by the electronic weighing scale
machine usingProComm a DOS basedprogram. The data stored ina Text File will be synchronizedandthe calculation
of Gross Weight, Tare Weight and the updating of necessarytables taken place automatically just by clicking the
synchronization button.
A Text file will be automaticallysavedin a different directorythat canbe usedfor further modification, updating and
for future reference.
When EBW finishes synchronizationandifanyparticular bale wants to be modifiedthen user shouldgo to correction
tab andcanedit the bale byentering the bale number inthe edit box provided. Alsothis Module enables the user to
generate Tare Weight report byselecting the Report tab – clicking onthe Report button. The synchronizationof data
can be done, as many times the user wants.
The Graphical user interfaces has been provided in such way that anyone can operate EBW module without any difficulty.
Role and Responsibility:
I was involved in the SystemAnalysis, Design& Coding, Unit testing of EBW, monitoringthe progress, implementing the product
successfully.
This Package is developedusing ActiveXData Objects (ADO), DTS,SQL Commands, Views, Triggers a nd Stored Procedures,
etc.MIS Reports.
Environment : Windows NT
Tools Used : VB6.0, SQL Server 2000, and Crystal Report 8.0
