1. The Bible Tells Me So Illustrated Bible Studies All Praise And Glory Be To God
2. But first…. we should ask for spiritual discernment preceding any Bible study. 1 Cor. 2:14
3. Father in Heaven, I pray for wisdom and understanding from the Holy Spirit as I study Your Holy Scriptures. I desire an open heart and mind. In the name of Jesus, Amen.
4. Your Name Can a person’s name be blotted out of the book of life? What does God’s Word say about the subject?
5. In the book of Exodus, chapter 32, Moses came down from Mt. Sinai with the Ten Commandments written by God himself. The Israelites, whom God had delivered out of Egypt, were worshipping a golden idol. Moses broke the tables of stone and went back to make atonement to God. In verse 32, Moses tells God:
6. Exodus 32:32 Yet now, if thou wilt forgive their sin-; and if not, blot me, I pray thee, out of thy book which thou hast written. blot me
7. Would Moses ask God to blot out his name if indeed it were impossible to do so? In the next verse, read what God Himself told Moses:
8. Exodus 32:33 And the LORD said unto Moses, Whosoever hath sinned against me, him will I blot out of my book.
9. God did not take Moses’ gracious offer, but told him only those that sin against Him will be blotted out.
10. Psalms 69: 27 Add iniquity unto their iniquity: and let them not come into thy righteousness. 28 Let them be blotted out of the book of the living, and not be written with the righteous.
11. Rev. 20:12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is [the book] of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. Works?=Deeds?=The way we live?
12. 11 If we turn our lives over to Jesus, and let His will be done, the works which He does (in us) will be righteous and our faith will be counted unto righteousness (Gen.15:6).
13. Revelation 20:15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. Who will enter? Who will not enter into the gates of heaven? Lake of fire? If one is cast into the lake of fire, then he cannot be in heaven.
14. Rev. 21:27 And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither [whatsoever] worketh abomination, or [maketh] a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's book of life.
15. 1 John 2:4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. 2:5 But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him. 2:6 He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.
16. In plain words, the person that claims to know Jesus, and does not do His commandments (sin is transgression of the law 1John 3:4) is a liar. But if that person does keep God’s law, the very love of God is perfected IN him. If a person claims to have Jesus in their heart, as a saviour, he should walk in his life the way Jesus walked.
17. 18 Rev. 21:7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son. 21:8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.
18. 19 Did you notice that only liars is preceded by “all” ? It would seem by this verse, some unbelievers (those who might not have ever heard the gospel), some murderers (Moses and Paul were murderers) might not be cast into the lake of fire, but ALL LIARS will be.
19. 2 Peter 2:20-22 For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning.
20. He who has once been a Christian but has gone back to the world becomes spiritually hardened and less responsive to spiritual appeals. His salvation thus becomes more difficult.
21. 2 Peter 2:21 For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known [it], to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them.
22. It is better to not ever know God’s truth, than to know it then turn away from it.
23. 2 Peter 2:22 But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog [is] turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.
24. It is natural to return to vile things if one’s heart and mind has not been converted.
25. Now, for the GOOD NEWS!!! He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels. Jesus says: Rev. 3:5
26. Notice Jesus said, “ ,” (sin), not “he that continues” (in sin)! He that overcometh
27. Jesus came to this earth in the flesh, like ours, to defeat sin and death. It is the gift of God. All we have to do is accept that gift.
28. We must, in faith, give ourselves totally to Jesus to receive His righteousness in us. The way of the cross is the ONLY way to be an overcomer of sin.
29. 29 Christ says of the overcomer, “I will not blot out his name out of the book of life.” The names of all those who have once given themselves to God are written in the book of life, and their characters are now passing in review before Him.
