9. Map of Penang and Chung Ling … In 1786, Captain Francis Light landed in Penang. The place was once known as the Prince of Wales Island. It is also known to be the Pearl of the Orient. The name “Penang” comes from areca palm trees locally called “Pinang”. Chung Ling is situated in Air Itam District.

Quick facts about the Camp … It is co-organized by Chung Ling High School and its Parent-Teacher Association It is a 7-day Camp, running from July 10 – 16, 2010 to be held in Penang This year, 100 Chung Ling (3 schools) and 100 overseas students from outstation/overseas, aged 14 – 17, are expected to take part The 200 participants will be divided into 10 groups. Each group will be led by 2 Trainers made up of Chung Ling Upper 6 students

Quick facts about the Camp … Many fun competitions will be held; the highlight will be the pick of Camp Idol Camp Guide and Camp Magazine will be published Apart from newspapers, banners, circulars, the Camp will be publicized in the website managed by CL Global Network ( www.chungling-pta.org ) as well as www.chungling-internationalcamp.com Camp Logo and Camp Song are created by Chung Ling students

Quick facts about the Camp … The participants, the trainers and teachers in-charge will be staying at Red Rock Hotel, Georgetown Air-conditioned coaches will be chartered to transport the participants during the 7-day Camp This international student camp is believed to be the first ever organized by a secondary school in Malaysia VIP, parents, teachers and guests will be invited to the opening and closing ceremonies
