The CIMA qualification
CIMA is quite unlike other accounting or financial qualifications. Its scope extends far
beyond pure accountancy and even most management training courses. It is a
complete education for business in the twenty-first century. And it is recognised and
valued the world over.
By completing the CIMA Professional Chartered Management Accounting qualification
you will show to employers that your skills set is far greater than number crunching
alone. You will have developed key decision making, management, strategic and
analytical skills.
Year after year, the world’s most prestigious employers put CIMA at the top of their
list of preferred business qualifications. CIMA will be your passport to career success
in any field you choose: commerce, financial services, consultancy, government, the
public sector, or manufacturing.
By becoming a member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants
(CIMA), you will attain the world’s most prestigious qualification for strategic and
financial management. It is your true global currency.
Entry Requirements
CIMA now operate a flexible entry policy, which means that as long as you feel that
you have a good knowledge and understanding of mathematics and English, there is
no requirement for formal qualifications to register with CIMA for Certificate in
Business Accounting.
Although it is not essential, many students choose to begin studying CIMA after
completing a degree. You may not need to sit for all CIMA exams if you have a
relevant academic qualification. Of the existing students, only half have a business or
financial degree; the rest come from a variety of social sciences, language, science
or engineering courses.
No management or accountancy experience is required to begin studying
CIMA.
You do not have to be in employment to study for a CIMA qualification but it is
recommended, as practical work experience will certainly contributed to your
understanding of the subjects studies, and forms an essential part of the final
qualification. If paid employment is not available, you may wish to consider part-
time voluntary work with a club or charity so that you are better able to understand
the concepts being taught.
