12. We can always depend
on the local super market
for our everyday food.
A long time ago we did
not have a stable food
supply in the USA, but
we do now!
It is a lot easier now for
people because you
would have to farm
everyday. Now, an
average person goes to
the super market about
every week.

20. Before:
This is one of the first things
people used to write with. It is
called the quill pen. It was first
established in America in
1810. The ink was not stored
in the quill pen and needed to
be dipped into a bottle of ink. If
you made a mistake, a
smudge, or it leaked, there
was no eraser. You would have
to start all over again.
Sometimes, the ink would leak
or drip.
21. After:
Today, the pen is not a
quill and it stores the
liquid (ink) inside.
Also, the pen now has a
cap on it, so the ink won’t
leak or drip. Some pens
have erasers like pencils
do, but that is not
common. The first pen
was invented in 1884.
22. Also today, we use
e-mailing and
texting to
communicate with
friends, family, etc.
Instead of using
pens and pencils,
we use keypads
that have the
alphabet on it so we can type
anything
we want with no paper involved.
