In 1951, Johns Hopkins researchers took her cancer tumor
cells without her permission.
This intrusion brought forth the immortal HeLa cells.
"The cells reproduced an entire generation every twenty-
four hours, and they never stopped." (Skloot, 2010)
Even in 2013, the violation continued when her genome
was sequenced and then made public without permission
from the Lacks family.
