  5. 5. Ingredients 1/2 cup sugar
  6. 6. Ingredients 2 peppermint candy canes, crushed
  7. 7. Appliances Large mixing bowl
  8. 8. Appliances Whisk
  9. 9. Appliances Spoon
  10. 10. Appliances Baking sheet
  11. 11. Appliances Parchment paper
  12. 12. Appliances Oven
  13. 13. Directions Preheat oven to 225 degrees Fahrenheit.
  14. 14. Directions Line the baking sheet with parchment paper.
  15. 15. Directions In a large mixing bowl, with a whisk, beat the egg whites, salt and cream of tartar to soft peaks.
  16. 16. Directions Gradually add the sugar, continuing to beat until whites form stiff peaks.
  17. 17. Directions On the baking sheets with parchment paper drop spoonfulls 1 inch apart.
  18. 18. Directions Sprinkle crushed peppermint candy over the cookies.
  19. 19. Directions Bake for 1 1/2 hours.
  20. 20. Directions Meringues should be completely dry in the inside. Do NOT allow them to brown.
  21. 21. Directions Turn off oven. Keep door ajar and let the meringues sit in the oven until completely cool.
  22. 22. Directions You can store them for up to 2 months in a cool, dry place.
