G-TEN offers a wide range of professional learning opportunities for teachers. In 2012, there is a new focus on leadership development programs and courses specifically for graduate and returning teachers. All resources will now be accessible through the G-TEN Design Space on the Ultranet. A variety of sessions are scheduled across different subject areas and age groups, with topics including literacy, numeracy, classroom management and the use of technology in teaching.

45. Secondary Writing across the Curriculum
– What works best?

Graduate & Returning
as we assess secondary students through written tasks. Secondary
Teachers students need to undertake writing tasks at increasing degrees of
abstraction, and develop strategies for writing of the quality, diversity
Leadership Development
and structure teachers and examinations require. This series of two
0 - 8 Years Term 1 workshops will utilise the DEECD Key Characteristics of Effective
Literacy and its writing focus across VELS Domains, making links with
0 - 8 Years Term 2 international research. We will investigate teaching strategies that work
to improve student writing across the curriculum, explore what teachers
Years P-6 Term 1 expect of secondary student writers, identify characteristics of effective
student writers and address setting writing learning intentions alongside
Years P-6 Term 2
content area learning intentions. We will develop writing scaffolds for
