Current export declaration tools: Paper, CAED and EDI
 Dated in design and functionality
 Single stand alone system
 Not cloud based; downloaded
 Challenges
 Not all functions consolidate to
one platform
 Not designed for mobile or
tablet usage
 Difficult to manage across
multiple users from the same
company
Paper form (B13A) G7-EDI
 One Legal page document
 3 copies – all to be stamped
 Challenges
 Delayed upload into
government systems
 Possible delays in export
 Possible delayed oversight by
CBSA
CAED
(PC based – single station)
 Primarily used by larger
companies / sophisticated
exporters, but not limited to
them
 This process will continue to
be available

1. Contact Canada Revenue Agency
2. Obtain a BNRM account
3. Have the BNRM configured for exporter reporting usage

CBSA developed Canadian Export Reporting System (CERS)
 A new, free, web-based application
The new Portal enables exporters and their customs service providers
(brokers/forwarders) to log into an online business account to:
 Create, submit, and manage export documents
 In particular, export declarations and summary reports
CBSA set up CERS Portal business accounts for exporters and
brokers/forwarders using CAED software
 Valid CAED export declaration submission between 12/1/2017 & 12/1/2019
 All other clients may complete a simple application process (Form BSF831)
to obtain a CERS Portal business account for their company

 Centralization of support activities:
only one government agency
involved in the support process
 Support activities for all export
