SPEAKER HIGHLIGHTS
Long recognising the potential of Australia’s transformative future, the Australian
Smart Cities and Infrastructure Summit 2016 was put together with the aim of sparking
discussion, unlocking insight and leveraging effective strategies.
Over 100 enthusiasts involved in transport and infrastructure, real estate, urban planning
and development, ICT and smart systems convened at the event in Sydney to hear from
the likes of Assistant Minister for Cities and Digital Transformation, The Hon. Angus
Taylor as well as Chief Commissioner of the Greater Sydney Commission, Lucy Turnbull
and were amongst the first to gain a unique insight from industry heavyweights and take
home strategies which have proven to be successful.
With the recent release of the Commonwealth’s Smart Cities Plan and $50 million
dedicated to driving change, the future of Australia’s cities and suburbs is an exciting
one, and the 2017 event will feature over 30 visionary leaders, including the world’s
smartest nations Singapore and Amsterdam who will share their experience and insights
on what it takes to get ahead in the smart cities race.

The inaugural 2016 summit was successfully launched with the
opening keynote by The Hon Angus Taylor, Assistant Minister for Cities
and Digital Transformation for the Australian Federal Government.
His fervent passion in the future of Australia’s cities was evident in his
opening address as he projected the Government’s future plans for
Australia and provided a roadmap to building the nation’s cities
of the future.
