Teaching approach: The lesson is based on the communicative approach
Pedagogical use of ICT in class: As I recognize the importance of using
audiovisual materials, all the songs used in the lesson will be shown in a video.
The material has been downloaded just in case there is no Iinternet connection.
Materials: videos of the songs, computer, flashcards.
Comentario [A1]: Well done.
2. Seating arrangement: During the presentation, students will be sitting at in their
desks in groups of 4 as they always do. Then, to perform the activities they will
stand up.
Cooperative work: at this age, students learn in different ways, including games.
During this lesson plan, students will play a game and sing in group.
Possible problems / difficulties and their possible solutions during the class:
The classroom is really small to play there, and there is not too much time to move
to another room. Therefore, I will try to move the chairs and encourage them not to
run inside the class when they dance or play the game.
Potential problems students may have with the language: Students will find it
difficult to remember all the words. I will repeat them as many times as necessary.
Furthermore, the vocabulary will be revised the following classes.
Assessment: what will be assessed and how: I’ll check that students identify the
different parts of the body by watching them during the activities. I will pay special
attention when dancing to see if they can move the body part which is mentioned
during the song or touch their bodies during the game.
Routine (5min)
I will get into the class and greet the students; we will sing the usual song they sing before
they start their class. As I sing will move my hands to greet them.
Song:
“Hello, Hello, we say hello to you.
Hello, Hello, how are you today?
Welcome friends, welcome friends.
It´s nice to see you again
Welcome friends, welcome friends.
It´s nice to see you again”

Comentario [R2]: Reference?
Comentario [A3]: Does the game
encourage cooperative work?
Comentario [A4]: How? What will you
do if they start running?
Comentario [A5]: You may use
different tones of voice, or different
teaching techniques.
Comentario [A6]: Some students may
be reluctant to this kind of physical
response. How will you assess these special
cases?
Comentario [A7]: Before or as soon as?

3. Warm up (4min)
I will say “Today we will talk about the parts of our body. Do you know some parts of the
body?” and I will encourage them to name parts of their bodies, they will probably tell them
in Spanish, I will repeat the word in English as I touch my body.
Transition: Ok, now I will show you some pictures.
Presentation (5 min)
I will show the students different flashcards of parts of the body. As I show them I will say:
“Look. These are hands”. Can you repeat? “Hand”. At this point, I will emphasise the
pronunciation of the vowels in the words hand and feet. After that, I will say: “This is my
hand”. Show me your hands” I expect students to repeat each of the parts of the body and
touch or move them as they say the word.
Flashcards
Development
Transition: Now that you know parts of the body, we are going to sing and dance. Stand
up! Are you ready?
Comentario [A8]: Try to provide a
concrete context. You can introduce a new
character/ story/anecdote. You can
develop this topic along your teaching
period.
Comentario [R9]: Remember that in
Didactics II we read about the need to
avoid this type of decontextualised
teaching: e.g. today we are going to learn
about the present continuous.
Comentario [A10]: Where will you
place the flashcards?
You may ask the students to help you put
them in a certain order, or to collect them
as you mention them, so as to get learners
to identify the vocabulary items.
Comentario [R11]: Whose hands?
Introduce meaningful language.
Comentario [R12]: Isolated words
should be avoided. Invite SS to repeat
whole chunks: these are my hands /
Tommy’s hands / etc.
Comentario [R13]: Do they? For them
to retrieve this lexis, several instances of
meaningful input should take place.
4. Activity 1: (5 min)
I will tell the students they will see a video of a song. I will ask them to stand up and to
move their bodies and sing as they listen to the Moving Song. I will also move my body so
that they can imitate me.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X6ls4zNDh30 (from minute 6 on)
Transition: Now, let´s play!
Activity 2: (6 min)
Now, I will invite the students to play “Simon says”. I will ask them to touch their own parts
of the body, or their classmates`. “Teacher says touch your feet. Teacher says touch
Helena´s head”
Closure: (5 min)
To finish the class, I will teach them a new song because they do not use one. The song
includes some parts of the body. As I show them the video in my computer, I will perform
the actions, so that they can imitate.
Song:
Bye, bye, good bye.
Bye, bye, good bye.
I can clap my hands
I can stamp my feet
Bye, bye, good bye.
Bye, bye, good bye.

Comentario [R14]: ☺
Will you play it only once?
What about the screen size? Will you use
an OHP?
Comentario [A15]: You should include
the lyrics.
Comentario [A16]: Are they familiar
with the game? Again, you should use a
thread which could run through your
lessons.
Comentario [R17]: Great idea!

Dear Gisela,
The sequence is well developed, but we think you should provide a meaningful context.
Remember that young children do love stories, for example. You can introduce a new “friend”,
Querida familia:
En la clase hora de inglés trabajamos las partes del cuerpo.
Les dejo el link de la canción que cantamos para que se puedan divertir en familia!

6. too.
You should also think of different management techniques to take into account in case they
misbehave or get too excited.
